Also check this other thread i made in which i detail some other stuff https://steamcommunity.com/app/57900/discussions/0/3648503910211757112/
1. The lighting at Duke's over the pool table was so dark I had to turn off the shadows.
2. The mouse wheel no longer allows weapon scroll. That is a big issue for me.
3. The menu under key bindings is unreadable at 4K .
(Not fault of mod, but would be nice if it could be fixed).
4. The in-game key prompts are overlapped and so are not fully readable.
5. There might be more, but stopped when I could not fix the weapon scroll.
The dev of the Enhanced Edition told me that the mouse wheel is something that is trying to look. And about the shadows over the pool table, since this version uses an advanced shadow system that was cut from the original game due to the consoles that they couldn't handle it, some levels needs to be re inlighten to look better.
Thank you for your feedback.
There will some major level changes in 2023 but i'll ask if those could be optional in case someone don't like them.
Just the vanilla game with "uncut" graphics.
And yes, ive seen the DNF-Enhanced-"vanilla gameplay" version of this mod, BUT it was updated to also include gameplay changes which makes it somewhat useless....
I played this game several times on ps3 when it was new and later played the Vanilla pc version on steam.
And id like to play it again but with the better lighting/shadows "unlocked".
Isnt it possible to change some .ini files to do just that? Thats how you could change a lot of graphics settings in the old Unreal Engine 1 and UE2 games back then (im not sure with UE3), which were unavailable in the ingame menu options.
If nothing else, i can just hope the creator of the DNFEnhanced mod can re-release his Vanilla version with graphics changes only.
The levels needs to be relit manually
I know you're talking about changing some lighting options to alter how it looks as a whole, i don't think that's possible. The game is pretty much locked.
As for playing his mod without weapon balance changes. I guess not?
Thanks bullerbuller!
I will play it with SSRTGI then. Some screen space global illumination is nice too! =D
edit:
Nah, i dont like this.
Tried the latest version of this mod.
It looks like some kind of picture or texture sharpening has been turned on(?), which makes the picture too noisy! The DOF is still removed, which just clashes with the whole look of the game. Sharper picture =not always mean "better" IMO. Its also part of the artistical design, which i generaly like a lot in this game, so i dont like the idea of removing it.... and neither do i like the results.
Another thing to note is that with this mod the game just suddenly killed me on some occasions and after loading the checkpoint i got killed again and again.... i practically loaded into the dying animation, so i couldnt play on with this mod.
On the other hand, the altered shadows effects are probably nice to look at. But honestly, i didnt even recognice it that much and tbvh, i prefer an unedited and uncut game when it comes to gameplay. without having altered/removed certain (.Y.) parts and Duke´s Oneliners.
Thanks for the dedication, but i just cant recommend this one personally.
