Did you update to W11? I had the same problem so I had to "Verify Integiry of Game Files" and then it started to work again.

I started with Verify, but wanted to make sure it wasn't my configs, so I cancelled that and uninstalled, deleted the folder, and upon re-install it worked first try!

I just bought the game and try to play it but it would not open. I "verify the integrity of game files" which it tell me that "1 file failed to validate and will be required". What the heck does it even mean? At this point I am not even sure what I should do.

Try removing the game and the whole folder and doing a second fresh install, a fresh install fixed my issue, but you already had a fresh install, so...

I solved the problem by playing game on normal mode instead of big picture mode which offer to install DirectX program for the game. I honest forgot that this game is old game. Now I can play the game without problem. Thanks for offering possible solution.

On my case, it appears the game doesn't want to launch from a NVMe drive, while fine from any sata hdd and ssd.

It's probably why it's not "compatible" with Steam Deck too.

I am only using NVMe drives and it worked for me after I verified the files.

Ok, so something else is causing this issue for me then.

I did a clean reinstall, and file verification, but it doesn't launch.
Rather, it launches, close itself, relaunch, and close, really odd.
