POTENTIAL CRASHING FIX
I AM VERY HAPPY right now since I have finally fixed my one crashing issue after two years of getting the game. Essentially, I crashed while going down the ladder while entering the sewer for the bank mission. Many solutions that others proposed did not work for me, so I experimented. This worked for me:

1. Set all in game settings to as low as possible to improve performance, both in video and effect settings. Change the game resolution to anything below the user's native resolution. Update graphics drivers, windows , BIOS, etc (anything that requires updates)

2. Change the properties of "LEGOLCUR_DX11.exe" in the game directory to disable fullscreen optimizations, run in compatibility mode (I have it set to windows 8), and run the program as administrator.

3. Disconnect controllers for now (until the crash is solved)

4. Install the specialK mod fix for the game along with the special archive file
- Steam Community Link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=949406574

- specialK mod direct download link: https://gitlab.com/Kaldaien/SpecialK/-/tags/lcr_limiter (click release lcr_limiter and then scroll down and click the LCR2.7z file to download it; drag and drop contents in to the Lego City Undercover game main directory which can be found through steam)

- special archive file: https://discourse.differentk.fyi/t/download-special-k/1461 (download the archive version, take out the specialk64.dll file out and rename it to dxgi (the final file name should go from specialk64.dll to dxgi.dll) and place this file into the game main directory to replace the old dxgi.dll found in the original specialk mod

- edit the dxgi CONFIG file (I use notepad to do so), and replace second section titled [SpecialK.System] with the following:
ShowEULA=true
InitDelay=250
Silent=true
LogLevel=0
IgnoreRTSSHookDelay=false
UseCrashHandler=true
GameOutput=true
EnableCEGUI=true
SafeInitCEGUI=true
TraceLoadLibrary=true
StrictCompliant=false
Version=24.10.5
EnableCrashSuppression=true
NoCrashSound=true
WaitForDebugger=false
GlobalInjectDelay=0.0
ReturnToSKIF=false
AutoLoadASIFiles=false

save the file with the edits

5. run the game normally, the fix should prevent crashes

6. After loading in properly or after completing the mission (if it does not crash, which it should not due to the fix), feel free to set your in-game settings back to normal so that you don't have to play with low graphics. You can also now use a controller

- Be careful, it is your responsibility to correctly and safely try this method.
- If this does not work for you, best of luck on fixing the game in the future
- If you have not spent that long bug fixing this game, there might be simpler solutions from other people that can be tried before this.

For me, I had done everything on this list and it had not worked yet. Today I finally touched the dxgi config file and thats what made it work. So basically what I'm saying is that editing the dxgi config file that is mentioned in part 4 is what made the difference (for me).
