How To Play LCU With Extracted .DAT Files?

I've been trying to play this game with extracted .DAT files to basically "mod" the game.

For anyone who doesn't know, this is how modding a lego game normally works:

1. Extract all .DAT Files using QuickBMS to the game directory

2. Backup all the .DAT files to a separate folder somewhere on your computer and delete the ones in the game directory

3. Move the __DISC__ file to the same backup folder, otherwise the game won't start or crash during loading.

After all that, you could do the following: add characters from other lego games, replace sound fx and music, and possibly make custom scripts.

I've done all these steps, but my game just black screens for 3 seconds,then closes.

I know that modifying this game IS possible since I've seen some videos on YouTube.

I have a feeling it has something to do with the .exe itself, but I'm probably wrong

Have you fixed it? I am trying to mod the game but running into the same issue. Ttgamespatcher and the wiki both say that the games exe doesn’t need to be modified.
