Co-Op?

I see it's not online, but only split-screen/local.

Can someone explain how the co-op works exactly? Thinking about trying to use Parsec with it (program that allows online-multiplayer for local-only MP games). Thanks!

I use parsec with my daughter locally. It's split screen for us both. We can both free roam it or do the missions. In sections where they start us off in a vehicle to escape we both get one, as long as one of us doesn't destroy a vehicle the first person to make it to the goal ends it. So its easy to progress even if you're playing with someone who is just fooling around.

How is the co-op? I've read a plethora of posts in regards to it, most people saying it's fairly broken. I've been thinking of picking this up for my wife and I to play through, and with the current Fanatical sale, right now seems like the best time.

In co-op you get access to everything a solo player gets. You can team up to find collectables or you can run through the story mode. It's been my favorite of the Lego games so far. This is coming from a 33 year old and 3 year old playing it off and on for months.
