Any solutions ?

i had the exact same problem... as it turns out, the game offers every resolution, but not all of them work. i peersonally was using a 1440 resolution and the game kept crashing. the solution: get into the game (free roaming) and change the resolution to a 720 or 1080 resolution (at this point, the screen will freak out, but you should still be able to exit TO THE MAIN MENU). after you are back on the menu, exit the game completely, and the next time you launch it... the resolution should be stable, and the game should not crash (at least in the same places, lol).

RE: while i do recommend 720 or 1080 resolutions (because they worked for me), you can obviously try any other resolution thats best for you, and test if it works... the danger in this is that the screen may go entirely blank and you wont be able to exit, even through ctrl+alt+del (i even had to restart my pc once).

i haven't even tried dx9... my computer only has 11. but knowing this game's compatibility so far... it probably doesn't even support 9. youre obviously welcome to try :D, i just dont know.

Has the patch changed anything for anyone in this matter, my game still hangs :(

Exviscerous is right. I turned all video options to default and the resolution went to 1080 something and the game didn't hang after the police chief briefing. And if you turn all other effects to high the graphics are pretty good and you can play the game until a patch arrives.

It's still unplayable. No new patches. My son just today tried to play it and it crashed in 5min.

I have now completed the game with 100%.
Sometimes it crashed two or three times in a row and then I could play hours without a crash.

I have the feeling that it has been better since I have installed older Nvidia drivers.

But the game really needs a good patch. And in too many situations, the camera is fixed in a specific direction of view, really annoying.

Try the default resolution from settings... My native (desktop) resolution is 1340x768. The game never crashes.
