Ignition

Ignition

I hope it allows the use of 3Dfx, for Glide wrappers
I run the original with nGlide at whatever resolution I like. Here's it at 1080p:

Hmm, never heard of nglide, is it some sort of program that allows you to play the original on new systems? Because I tried running it, even in the win 95 compatibility mode but theres just a black screen.

Time to put my voodo3 to work.

nGlide converts 3Dfx Glide graphics to Direct3D. There's another program called dgVoodoo2 that does the same. dgVoodoo can also be used to scale up old Direct3D 8.1 and earlier games, check out many old games that I scaled up to HD here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,152678.0.html

If you're talking about the original boxed version of Ignition them I can check how I got mine working on Win10 64bit later...

Right, sounds like you need the patches. There's a patch both for the regular Windows version and also a 3Dfx patch which means you can then use nGlide or dgVoodoo to emulate a 3Dfx card (and get higher resolution, etc than originally).

Get both patches here: https://gamefront.online/files/listing/pub2/ignition/Official_Patches/

nGlide you get from here: http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide you then install that, configure what resolution you want in the control panel, and run the Ign_3dfx.exe executable!

dgVoodoo will work as well, but can be more tweaked (and it'll probably help run the non-3Dfx version).

Thanks so much man I'll try it right now. I will still get the steam version too though, if it is reasonably priced of course ;)

It sounds like this version on Steam is the DOS version, with no 3Dfx compatibilty/possibility of upscaling to HD resolutions (max at 800x600 res?). Shame!

Uff I will hold off buying this then for sure. Because I tried the nglide and the game works like a charm, my over 20 years old game works like new when I used an external program to make it work and I didn't have to pay a cent for it to run :)

I have a few games on CD that could be bought in Steam, but I just don't play them enough to warrant the extra cost

yeah, I usually buy older games on gog.com, there are quite a few I bought off gog.com that just work even without a client and are fully patched to work on new windows systems.

aww, i guess the GoG one is dosbox as well? that's too bad if it is. because nGlide is much better.

You can patch the DOS version (both GOG and Steam) to use the original 3dfx version of the game (only confirmed working for dgVoodoo2). Check out my guide with explanations here:
