♥♥♥♥ yes, I really hope that KI will find its Steam audience with this news finally. This version of the game was a bit mismanaged thanks to the missing crossplay compared to the Windows Store version but finally it is time to put it on its well earned pedestal.

The page says this about the Xbox / Windows Store version:

The following Mature-rated content included in KI Definitive Edition will NOT be included in the Anniversary Edition:

Definitive Edition App (featuring developer interviews, concept art, Killer Cuts soundtrack)
Xbox KI Classic 1 & 2

But DON’T WORRY! If you already own Killer Instinct Definitive Edition digitally, you will still be able to download the above content even after the Definitive Edition is retired.

And the Steam version:

The current purchase-only Steam version of Killer Instinct will be replaced by Killer Instinct Anniversary Edition. All purchased Steam versions of Killer Instinct will be upgraded to the Anniversary Edition for free.
Additionally, the Permanent VIP Double XP Booster and Gargos’ Golden God and Argent Shroud colors will be available on Steam for the first time as part of the Anniversary Edition.

So yeah, if you want that soundtrack, you better buy it now.

Crossplay on steam? any update?

Unfortunately they confirmed during the stream that ranked mode still won't be crossplay between the Steam version and the Win10/Xbox version.

But everything else about this update is awesome. I think chances are, if you want to play ranked matches you'll still be better off playing the Windows version of the game. But with it being F2P, you can hopefully convince your friends to download it and try it out with you.

for the xbox pc store version of the game do you need like xbox live or is it just if you have the console version of the game?

They are talking about a native 4k version if I remember the game was the first fighting game in native 4k? they should include vibrations on the controller

I don't think it's cheaper to buy it now. Anniversary is supposed to be 30 dollars base price. Current version is 40. And the game has been on sale for 9.99 in past sales but they seem to have jacked up the price with news it's getting an update lol. Unless they pull a Dark Souls, and never give a decent discount again.
