I'm just curious about this game because I've never played a game with rollback netcode before, and since this is on sale, I'm willing to buy it just to try it.

So it seems that there are people playing/a community, but, it's still not like you can hop on whenever and just get games in.

You can hop and get games but you need to check the time zones the community is in. If you are in Asia/Europe it might be pretty inconvenient for you.

The game is pretty active, however, steam players cannot play ranked mode with xbox and Microsoft store players, so ranked is pretty dead on steam. Exhibition mod (unranked) lets you play with anyone so steam charts are not an indicator for this game's playersbase, especially when you consider that people who want to play ranked would buy the game from the microsoft store. So, I would suggest you buy the game from the microsoft store IF you want to play ranked, if not either is fine.

Steam version is pretty much dead last time I checked.

I bought the game on Steam. It's true that Ranked is dead, but if you're patient - you can find games in Exhibition mode.

If people from Europe see this - please add me for some games. I just started, but I plan to play this game for a while, want to learn the matchups and have some fun. Amazing fighting game so far, one of the best

What did you checked? Most of the players are on Microsoft store and xbox, game has crossplay but only for unranked mod. So, for ranked steam version is dead, but alive otherwise. Xbox and microsoft sore version are alive for ranked and unranked.
