Which controller for a new player?
I pretty much just bought this game and I love it for the complexity and depth, however I'm trying to figure out which device is best for this game. Is it keyboard? Is it controller? Or is it a Hitbox?
OOOOr is it preference?

Like with any fighting game, anything you're comfortable with as long as it has 6 core buttons.

Me personally, I have a Hori mini arcade stick commin in today because TJ Combo's Auto Barage feels awkward on a controller.

But that's my comfort. So experiment.

My recommendation is the 8bitdo M30 or something similar.

I have Logitech F710 for fighting games, pad is good for those half circles and weight is good

You mean, Playstation? You did turn it on in Steam settings, right?

The best controller is the one you're the most comfortable with.

I'd suggest you just use what you have available for now, whether that's a controller or whatever. Keyboard probably isn't the best, but you can make it work. It's more important to get comfortable with the game in general.

I'm using a Razer Panthera arcade stick, but I'm still pretty new to it and the game overall. I got it because I just really didn't like using the shoulder buttons on my logitech dual action controller with six-button fighting games.

Overall, I would caution against using the keyboard or an xbox controller for fighting games. Gamepad vs arcade stick is personal preference

You should be able to get just about any controller to work with the game through the steam Xinput wrapper. If that doesn't work, you can probably still make your controller work, but you'll have to do the tinkering on your own. Remember, people have beaten Dark Souls with controllers ranging from donkey kong bongo controllers to bananas., so I'm sure it's possible to use playstation controllers with KI.

I guess I'll shill for the xbox or ps4 controller. I use a DS4 myself. To get the PS4 controller to work without some kind of third party app you have to turn on native support for it in Steam through the Big Screen controller options menu. Dunno where it's located in the normal UI.

I use xbox360 controller and it is perfect. I mean, come on, the game was designed for xbox. Inputs are easy, so no need for double qcf motions or anything like that. It is crap for guilty gear or snk games, but it works great in KI.

probably the best controller would be an arcade controller, unfortunately i don't have one, i have an xbox360 controller, but i feel difficulties with the stick, for me the keyboard is being much more comfortable and faster when executing the combos with wasd and numpad.

While I do have a fight stick, I find myself going back to either my PS4 controller or the Pro Control from the Switch. I find the way you use Combo Breakers on a control with the right joystick to be real intuitive while on the keyboard/fight stick, I get confused. Like others said, get whatever you find comfy, my recommend goes to the Switch's Pro Controller as it's all around a great pad.

How did you get the Switch Pro to work with this game? Doesn't work for me whatever settings I try

you can use the steam controller options found in the View menu at top of steam then click on Settings then Controller then General Controller Settings button

View menu > Settings >controller > general controller settings button
and tick the following:

"Use Switch Config Support"
"Generic Gamepad Support"

optional if you want the A,B,X and Y like switch instead of XBOX tick "Use Nintendo Button Layout"

also check its the correct controller name before closing "[X]" in top corner

i think that's how its done, I am using a PDP Switch pro style Controller

Thank you. Haven't tried running both of this options together (Switch & Generic)
