Hisako with Fractured Ward Guardian (he's surprisingly free to Influence setups I've noticed)
Omen with Snake Guardian (I also used Hammer of Sol to make his combos unblockable for the first 15 seconds of the match)
General RAAM with Fractured Ward Guardian (the AI tends to fall for the *throw/command grab into corner > LK stomp > command grab* loop most of the time)
As for relics, I mainly equipped the nanomachines that boost attack and defense, and once it added to the mode in an update I also started using the coffin relic (I forgot what it's called exactly) that causes the opponent to constantly lose health over the course of the match. In terms of items used in-match Hammer of Sol and it's stronger version (one of the Wolf Hearts) are great offensive options because opponents can't block your attacks for 15 seconds, and when paired with the Snake Guardian it can take out most of Gargos's lifebar with even basic combos. The forcefield that makes you invincible is also good if you want emergency defense, as it can be used even when being caught in a combo.
Most of the match will be keeping him from summoning his minions (he's way less powerful without them) and exploiting his weaknesses (for example, if he uses Instinct, just get close and foot sweep him since that ignores his armor). Most of the challenge comes from his overpowered stats and the few new attacks that are exclusive to his Shadow Lords variant (like the running super grab that does high damage), but outside of that once you learn his patterns he's not that much different from the rest of the AI.
It should be noted I spent no real money on Shadow Lords, I just kept playing until I eventually got the good items for Godlike difficulty (there are sidequests that let you get large amounts of Astral Gems), also now that you get KI Gold just from logging in (which was not the case when I first played KI) you can also just use that to buy item packs (unless you want it for cosmetics since that's all else KI Gold is good for).
And I will never ever spend money on microtransactions ever. After the games I own I plan on never buying another game again that impliments this in even the smallest way.
It's just one method to beat him easily, honestly speaking I've had far more success beating Godlike Gargos with Omen/Shadow Jago + Snake guardian + Hammer of Sol (even got perfects off of him using this combo). Even without the Hammer of Sol I was surprised how much health I took away just doing hit confirms into slide loops, the AI really can't deal with their low slides for some reason.
Like I said, I never spent any money outside of buying the characters themselves. You'd be surprised how easy it is to ignore microtransactions in this game (especially compared to certain other recent games), especially since they literally give you KI Gold for free nowadays.
