Cross play. so no at all
Arthas Oct 31, 2017 @ 1:14pm
Game has crossplay so it isn't dead but steam version came out at a bad time. Hardly any advertising, MKX went on sale for dirt cheap when KI came out on steam, and unable for people that bought the game previously to cross over to Steam.

To be honest MS shouldn't of bothered releasing on Steam if it wasn't willing to do any kind of real work in advertising or making sure old customers don't get ripped off. I can say I'm very shocked on how poorly MS handled the steam release.

It doesn't help that the game is so easy to play though. There is hardly any incentive to keep playing after you lvl the characters you like to 50. Everyone online mostly use combo assist, so everyone can play at a decent level. So being good doesn't have its perks like other fighting games where you dominate most players and feel like a god.

If less than 300 are playing, itll say 0 for some reason.

ranked is probably the lowest populated because its segragated. however you can still match up with the rest of the playerbase using exhibition and lobbies.

also when the ♥♥♥♥ is crossplay ranked being added? it was a god awful choice and its objectively obvious when you look at the numbers.

you say this like it's a bad thing. the entire genre is dead mostly because of this attitude.

It is a bad thing for those who have already put in the work and effort all these years into fighting games. Making fighting games easier basically takes a sledgehammer to all those thousands of hours that older players have put into fighting games for decades and smashing it. While also laughing saying that your skill means nothing now.

Imagine having the same logic to your job. Someone starting out getting the same pay and benefits as you do that have been working for 20+ years. That's pretty much how older fgc players feel about this.

Yeah but if you destroy people who use combo assist without using it yourself, isn't that just as satisfying if not more?
That said, it shouldn't be allowed in ranked anyway.

Not really because I had to put it in much more work and effort to get the same result as the other person who doesn't have to put in as much work and effort.

It's not satisfying that the other player can win without having to make the sacrifice we older gamers had too. It feels like were being cheated and then told to "deal with it".

I'm glad there is Shadow Lords, even if the multiplayer does have a huge dip in playerbase, Shadow Lords is the BEST single player fighting system I've ever witnessed.

1st paragraph is 100% accurate. 2nd paragraph - well, I read it had something to do w/ the tech. Live not being able to be implemented in Steam or something.

Q: No Ranked Crossplay, Why?

Our folks worked really hard to make ranked a fair place on Xbox/Windows. Not saying that is not possible with Steam. Just saying it was very much a decision to keep the pools separate.

This may change in the future

The developers didnt want us on Steam getting steamrolled just starting out. I figure it wouldnt take much to add both pools together but you could forget getting top 32 in killer rank if they did.

Keep in mind that the player count is also the people playing single-player so...the multiplayer base is even smaller than that. I'd say they need to bring over the F2P model from the Windows 10 version.

Quake Champions is another game that's F2P elsewhere but a premium game on Steam so...I wonder what's up with that? Probably has to do with Vavle taking a 30% cut of profits, idk.

ahh, I see. what they should've done, imo, is have it as a planned rolled out after X amount of time. Separate the pools for the first month or two, then integrate them together. Which they technically still may/can do, but just have it announced as the plan, at least. I think a lot of Steam players have stopped playing due to the small Ranked base.

I agree with you. I would rather get stomped on and have people to play than playing the same guy 4 times.

It's not like killer ranked isn't populated by the players who migrated anyway.
ViciousCode Nov 12, 2017 @ 11:08pm
yeah I have been stuck playing the same 3 people, really hard to rank up when you are playing the same people over and over that are higher level than you are.
