Yeah, but it's kinda unfair when the game has so much negative reviews for nothing. Even No Man's Sky doesn't have so much negative reviews right now :/ And yeah, the game is pretty good and maybe even the best one in NBA 2K series.
But then again, NBA 2K gets bad reviews every year. When NBA 2K 15 came out it was like "♥♥♥♥♥♥ story, only half a season in first year? wtf is this? 2K14 was way better". When 2k16 came out they were hating on it as well. 2K17 also received a lot of hate. It's the same every year really. The VC model isn't even something new. The people complaining about having to spend VC for facial hair will probably buy 2K19 and complain again about how you have to spend VC to improve your player or to change his looks
The sad part is that it has some effect on Steam. A game with 75% of negative reviews will not attract new players on PC :/
Im not a basketball fan, but all the negative reviews would certainly ring alarm bells, if i was a fan of the genre.
Why it's pay 2 win? There's no some special abilities that you can buy only with real money. Everything what the game has can be bought with VC, that you get just for playing the game.
That's the problem. The game is good and there are so many negative reviews. Yes, it's not ideal, it has some problems, but it's still very good, there are a lot of positive things. Such a shame for pc community.. :/
2k isn't Blizzard, it's obvious in basically every aspect, from stability to polish.
I am being rewarded NOTHING for spending 20 minutes in mycareer games, I have never lost anything I have gained in ANY Blizzard game. Additionally, if I did lose something in a Blizzard game, I would contact support, and just show proof and get it back.
2k released a game that crashes frequently for a lot of people in neighborhood and doesn't reward people VC for mycareer games, AND hackers have hit PC ---- It should take a hit for that, a really really really big hit ---- I say that as someone who put 900 hours in 2k17, and like the gameplay of this one more.
That's the difference between 2k and Blizzard though, if something awful happens, Blizzard challenges it directly, even over social media. WHO REMEMBERS MYPARK AFTER DARK? I know I do, but 2K sure as hell forgot basically immediately. 2K basically treats every problem they have like mypark after dark.
Why do you comparing 2K with Blizzard? I don't remember that Blizzard had Basketball simulator in their games list so it's a little bit weird to compare two companies that develop different games. Yes, hackers is a problem. But c'mon a lot of games has cheaters. For example: CS:GO, where every fifth player plays with cheat and Valve does nothing with it. But the game still has a lot of positive reviews. And what about 2K18? Nobody has met any cheater yet. But there are a bunch of negative reviews for no reason. What's the problem with VC? You play the game, you gain VC. It's simple and balanced. There's no reason to buy VC for real money. And in the end you said that "if something awful happens Blizzard challenges it directly, even over social media". Well, unfortunately but no. I have played Overwatch and Hearthstone a lot. With the first game - everything is amazing. Devs really doing a brilliant job. If something is wrong - fixed in the next patch. Also they are always communicating with players and it's amazing. But let's look at Hearthstone. The game, where are a lot of unbalanced cards, where everything depends on luck and devs do nothing. They don't fix anything. A good example: maybe a year ago they released a new expansion and a new imbalanced deck has shown up. It's called Pirate Warrior that destroys opponent in about 7 turns. There was a lot of posts in Reddit about it, every player hated that meta and Devs did absolutely nothing. It's still powerful even after one year. Now I'm not playing this anymore, because I saw that devs completely don't know how the game works and what player needs. They release an expansion every 3-4 months, get a lot of money from packs (pre-order 60 card-packs costs 50 euro) and that's it. They absolutely don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about the game problems. So yeah, Blizzard has a lot of good sides, but Hearthstone is a proof that not every Blizzard game is a masterpiece. To sum up, I just want to say again that 2k18 didn't deserve so much hate. There are a lot of games on steam that are awful in a lot of aspects, but still has only positive feedback. And that's unfair, because 2K devs did a really awesome job. Just compare it with Fifa series and you will see that 2K really are interested in progress every year and it's still the best Basketball game that eliminated competitors (NBA Live).
Do you think I like talking about how much 2K messes up all the time? I hate it, I want to tell my friends with a straight face "Buy this game, nothing should stop you." but when I'm talking to someone who is used to a stable game, I have to tell them, "This game might crash for you, or you might not get your VC, it is a widespread problem, and historically speaking, ESPECIALLY in regards to PC player, 2K probably won't do much. Not nearly as much as game developers you are used to." It's not like I can tell someone who has never played a basketball game that this is the best one, it doesn't mean anything to them, no matter how firmly I believe it.
