MyCareer Difficulty Level...No more Rookie?
I normally play at the Superstar level, but I share my MyCareer account w/ my young son and his cousin who are fairly young and play much better (and have more fun) on the Rookie level (in all past 2K MyCareer modes).

It seems to be missing this year in 2K18, I can only toggle between Pro, Superstar & Hall of Fame difficulty levels.

What gives?

Am I missing something?

Seems like vc earning has been equalized amongst all difficulties. So in order to offset everything being equal they got rid of the easiest difficulty.

I don't mind it, but it seems a little unfair to those who are new to the game who may need a handful of games to get used to the mechanics before upping the difficulty level...

Not everyone has been playing this game for 6+ years...

Heres a bright Idea, the make Rookie the default VC level then the next 3 levels 1.25x,1.5x or 2x VC. But the people at 2k arent that bright.

That's how it was the last years actually.
They removed it because they went full on greedy microtransaction mode and basically replaced it with the "Double Money" thing you get once your player reaches, i think it was 95 overall.

I think the decision was more to facilitate farming and equality than anything. Getting more VC shouldn't be the only reason you play this difficulty kind of thing. Now people can't complain about not getting the same amount of farm (though nobody complained anyway) and the base level of earned vc is higher than what both good rookie and decent pro games gave you anyway in 2k17. Its not a decision I really mind,

No, it really was just to force more people to buy VC.
You should get compensated for playing and succeeding on a higher difficulty. That's how ALL games work: Higher difficulty means higher score, more XP, more money, whatever. Has been that way everywhere since games got invented.

To further prove that it's all about the Microtransaction: They also slashed the VC's you could from the companion app in half compared to the previous years.
You make a whole lot less VC now than ever before. How can anybody defend this?

And 2x money for HoF wouldn't make it unfair, it would just make getting basic things easier. Considering i currently at the start of my career get about 600 VC per match, with HoF Multiplier it would be 1200, so at least i could buy a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ haircut and haircolor with just 1 game played instead of 2. And just the fact that haircuts and color cost this absurd amount should show where 2K is heading.

They straight up removed the difficulty multipliers to force people into buying VC. VC earnings in MC are laughable now. Same reason you have to pay thousands of VC for a freaking haircut and clothing. There is no point to play on a higher difficulty in MC now.

Badge progression is faster on higher difficulties though. You receive more points for everything you do.

Alright. Didn't know that.

Yeah I was playing this on Xbox and I noticed this too. As a new player to this series I am complete garbage and only really enjoyed playing on rookie mode. I have been looking for a anwser hoping that it might have been just me. I even preordered so i got the vc upgraded my guy and still cant hit a single shot honestly hope they do something for this because I was really excited for this game and everything.
