What I mean to say is that bringing it up in this thread won't help anything as it's not the topic of discussion. All I want to get across in this thread is my role and intentions so everyone has an idea, then it will be closed. I wouldn't want you to have to restart it after making headway in a discussion with someone in this thread.
Each topic should have its own thread anyway.
I think they actually do care, just not in the way we'd like them to. I'd imagine there's a pretty large number of people that buy the PC version specifically for the ability to cheat, mod and whatnot. 2K probably fears they're gonna lose money if they stop cheating on PC.
Contacting support is useless, by the way. They are not allowed to speak on the issue of cheaters on PC and they are unable to contact the game developers. Or so they told me. And now 2K is sending in henchmen to censor anything and everything negative being said about the game in a ridiculous attempt to cover up their gross incompetence and money grabbing ways.
I made one big post a while ago(2016, 2017?) in the 2K Forum with detailed proofs of people cheating and that the 2K Admins/Employees are not interested to fix it, even with simple tricks how to fix the cheater problem. ((a.e activating VAC which bans you from the game if you try to inject or edit something within the game, every 14y old which is working on it for like a few hours could set it up and it would stop 95% of the cheaters at all). All I got was a ban on the 2K Forum and the thread Shadow-Deleted. Even after my Reddit post with around 1500 Upvoates and 100.000 Views nothing changed, the only thing 2k was trying was to get it deleted from there.
Thats why I switched now from PC to PS4 with some other friends, curious that the support tickets there get solved in around 2hours while PC tickets are prob still open from 2 months ago. x)
2K support just aren't allowed to be able to help you the way many other developers allow their support departments. They can really only help you with things that can be solved on YOUR end. Probably also why all the reporting of cheating, glitching and the like doesn't reach the higher ups, unless it costs the company profits. The bans in 2k16 comes to mind. Only those either cheating the stat upgrades (not paying VC for them) or taking advantage of VC gained from simming games... which they should have fixed before the game came out, you know... like any other developer would have. (Oh that's right... beta testing doesn't exist in 2K)
I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that I'm here to censor everything negative, though. If that was the case, this thread would have been deleted long ago.
As a mod on that forum (and I was part of the modding team on the NBA forum at the time), I have to ask... By any chance were you repeatedly calling out these people as cheaters (which is against forum rules)? Other than that, I'd ask you to take a look back at the discussion I was having with <Lucifer> around post #132 if you haven't already.

Holy .. seems like our new Boss has quite a fanbase.
The first one was a result of breaking the rules on bad language. Respondents in that thread even speculate it was due to that. There would have been nothing wrong with the person re-posting without the profanity.
The second one is a conspiracy theory based on a fundamental exaggeration. The fact of the matter is that not all threads were closed. One was closed, and duplicates that came afterwards trying to resurrect that particular discussion were subsequently dealt with until things were resolved, which they have been for a while now (one of the threads they link to was closed because the question that was asked had been answered). Took a while though, and multiple threads about that version of the game were open throughout that time period.
Yeah, it's strange seeing stuff like that. I admit I'm strict on the rules and that cramps the style of some people, it's already happening here. But people like that rarely actually try to discuss things with me and are open enough to see where I am coming from.
Well from the tone of the messages you can already tell how it's gonna be. There are mods that just like to be helpful and serve the community by mediating on message boards. And then there are mods that like the role because they just like the little amount of power it confers.
I realize I'm taking a rather adverserial tone straight away myself. But I generally don't like unearned authority.
...and that your initial fears will not come to pass. A lot of your speculation has been false, but there's only one way to prove that, and that'll take time. There will probably be instances where I'll play Devil's Advocate and suggest what might be happening from the other side of an argument, but that's all it'll be, speculation in order to help a discussion. I try not to take an actual side unless there's 100% confirmed factual evidence and hopefully you've seen a bit of that in this thread.
As for the lack of gameplay on Steam, my laptop isn't up to the challenge of playing many games, so the games I do own are in anticipation of getting a PC that can...eventually.
I have been moderating on the 2K forums for four years now, and moderated elsewhere for years before that. Friction and disagreements are inevitable and the vast majority of those are based on how the rules are interpreted. If I was doing my job in the wrong way, I would have been told so as I share links like that and confer with my "mod boss" when these things happen.
But as I said earlier, some people just don't like strict enforcement of the rules because they feel restricted and want to be brash, rude and not have to be courteous and respectful when posting on the internet. But these are forums controlled (and owned in the case of the official forums) by a company, negative influences like that won't be allowed to fly.
If you can understand that, then you may be able to understand why the rules are applied the way they are. If there is a disagreement, feel free to discuss it with me via a private message or something.
I'm not here to "save the franchise for the PC players" or words to that effect like Chris Jericho in 1999 in the WWF. I'm just a volunteer, I can't do that. But...as mentioned in the forum rules[forums.2k.com] on the official forums...
That's what I'm aiming for...
