[MyCareer]How to Get More Playtime?
"Got off the phone with the UA rep and he likes what you've been doing. Might be getting close to talking about a real deal. They like how popular you are, but want to see you play at least 15 minutes per game."

Boy, I sure would love that too! But I'm not a starting player and when I get put in I'm taken out the moment anyone fouls, even if I'm doing well enough and we're gaining momentum. What do I do? I need the extra playtime, not just for the sake of my character's career but also to just get better at the game. If I keep getting literally 1-2 minutes maximum, I'm going to stagnate, especially given how limited training is.

I suppose for getting better at the game I could just play other modes, but when I'm literally just here for MyCareer I don't really have any desire to.

- Not saying it's the best thing to do but go ahead into the options to make the game longer. You should get more time then and it will give you a better chance to get the feel of the game.

-When you get the shoe endorsement go to Footlocker and get your shoes whether it's Nike or under Armour or whatever they offer you. They will be free at 0 vc.

-Take all the endorsements you can at first and just accept them. Negotiating is ok to but in the long run it's not worth it quite yet.

-Don't spend much time at the gym yet. Only spend enough time to increase your turbo to around 80%. Reason being. It's really only there to break caps. So if stats are capped at 80 but your only a 62 the gym won't mean much except for replenishing your turbo.

-For defending don't hold L2. Just tap it over and over and with a little movement from your sticks.

-SInce you most likely don't know the plays yet just make them auto in options and make them visible so you see what is called and then quickly move wherever it says to.

I'm telling you this because the game does not have a rookie mode for mycareer from what I have seen. It will be quite a frustrating experience at first and even after.

Yeah I figured that about the gym. Didn't know that about defending, I've been holding and trying to maintain proper distance and people just slip by me like it's nothing. Hopefully that'll help. And the plays... I'll need to have a look at my options for those.

Also for the shoe deal I explicitly stated my preference was UA, and I won't take anyone else. Especially not Nike. Nike can kiss my rosy redneck ass.

Stats matter, obviously.... but team grade seem to matter more in how quickly you gain minutes.

Aim for A+ in each game and you're good.

I try to raise it quickly, but it takes a minute for me to gain momentum, and just as I'm getting it I get changed out ASAP, usually after another teammate fouls.

Really, all you need to do is to keep it simple.

Good passes alone will get your grade up very fast. It doesn't even have to be an assist.

Just a completed pass where the receiver of the pass is balanced while catching it.

The other way is to defend but passing is the route to go for now.

Try your best to defend but don't feel bad because you will be at a huge disadvantage due to stats.

Also, don't even bother shooting unless the shot plays to your current strengths and that your player is at least semi open.

In other words, you should be able to drive a semi thru the space required to take a shot. Then you have a chance at making it.

Yeah defense is hard not just due to stats, but also the fact that I'm playing point guard. 6'3" kind of limits the kind of wingspan I can have, and that really cuts down defensive options.

Passing is definitely my main game. Just get the ball off to someone who's open and see what they can do with it. I only try to shoot if A: the shot clock is too close to 0 for comfort or B: I'm in range and under no pressure. And of course I'll take a layup or a dunk if I'm given the hole to make it.

Tip for easy steals:

-Get behind the ball handler and steal from the side where he holds the ball. Works especially well on opponent's fastbreak where you sprint from behind them and hit steal button the moment you pass them (at the side where they hold the ball, obviously)

-Unless you're a lockdown defender, don't go for more than 3 tries per possession. After that the chance of reaching fouls increase dramatically.

-Call double team on ball handler, always. Easier to get steals or give them TOs.

-if not trying to steal from behind, wait for them to do a dribble-move before you try to poke the ball loose.

That kind of stuff is out of my reach to try right now. I'm still trying to get the fundamentals down well. I'll try a quick steal every now and again and that's it, and it's just thrown out there, I'm not gonna do anything special for it.

I typically toss it on 12 minutes at the start of a MyCareer. This allows ample time to get an A or A+ grade during games, after a dozen or so you should be in the starting lineup or close. Also, don't be too concerned about the cutscenes in MyCareer, I noticed that many of them will play regardless of how well you are doing in the career.
