Oh yeah , Thanks you , I thought it was how fast you start moving with the ball , Like the first step kind of thing , Westbrook kind of thing , Thank you now its clear .

The westbrook kind of thing is more or less your ball handling along with acceleration and speed.

The speed with ball rating is under "ball control"

lateral quickness is how fast you move with lateral steps, so is something like your speed on defense when you're facing your opponent.

Lateral quickness is the speed in which you move laterally (side to side, not forward/backwards).

A rare sight on the internet. If I could give him a cookie I would.
Lateral Quickness = Defense related speed and ability to move sideways as well as doing so forwards or backwards while facing the opponent.

To get a better picture.
Think of a crab in front of you. The crab is on defense and you are on offense with the ball. Ideally, most defensive coaches want the crab to ALWAYS face you . The crab will go into a defensive stance (legs wide, hands and head up). They will move (shuffle) sideways when you move to your left or right; as you move forward, they move backwards while still facing you and vice versa.

So the crab's lateral quickness is the speed and ability with which he can match your movement as you try to get around him to score.

Although it says quickness, it doesnt necessarily mean it deals with speed or acceleration. Those 2 stats are reserved for the open floor, transition, or on offense.

When you get into a defensive stance thats when lateral quickness is the main stat.

Why they use this word " lateral quickness " just use a simple word like defense , or speed defense , omg with 2K is always complicated
