I never noticed this issue but I had it happen in "crossfire" 2 days ago.. Had to reload even because it was my one and only grenade launcher..
Mine dissappeared after dropping it on the ground because I was repairing other guns (so they are worth more in the store).
Other equipment drops on the floor and I pick them back up, but I don't dare to drop the grenade launcher again.. (I should test if it happens again tough)
Edit: Don´t use any mods...
It happens in vanilla game too, not only in combat evolved.
I had this happen to me a few times. I got tired of it, so I 'fixed' it. I never simply drop something into the sector inventory willy-nilly anymore. I place it in a container that already exists on the map. Never had anything disappear once I did that.
In fact, now my quasi-OCD has kicked in and I frequently pick up all the random items in the sector inventory and stick them in one container on the map. That's probably overkill. But I've been specifically tracking the items in each sector in a document, and nothing's gone missing since I started doing so.
