Is there a way to make industry buildings gender specific?
Alternatively is there a good way to find gainful employment when you've got lots of unemployed women? The game is very lopsided for gender employment.

I'm curious what you mean with "gender specific industry". All industry buildings (factories) in Tropico 4 offer job positions for both genders. The only other industry buildings I can think of that are gender specific are the oil well and refinery, and those are filled up by women only. As long as they have the right educational degree then your unemployed women will fill up any job position that is open to them.

If you just want them to have a job right away then build any type of hotel or bar/restaurant.

I thought I was clear, I want to make factories only allow female employees to combat the huge unemployment among my female population. If I build more industry all the men grab the jobs and I'm left with no teamsters which brings the entire economy to a standstill. Spamming entertainment doesn't help at all since those are all cash sinks. I usually put down farms or plantations and end up with the entire staff made up of women but in this case I didn't have anywhere those farms would be much use.

If you move the jobs to the high school educated women then you'll get just as many high school educated men out of work.

Have you built a power plant yet? That eats up a bunch of college educated women.

Yeah I know I can fire people to shuffle them around but I was hoping for some kind of automation as for power planets I generally skip straight to Nuclear to save money.
I shuffled my employees around. when I have little money for extra employment, I just shift farm employees female exclusive. i also skip right to nuclear. screw power plants huehue.

Sometimes I'll just go through and fire the men.
If it remains a problem, just start building farms and grade schools and cabarets.
You can never have too many grade schools.
