How do you increase religion?
Having aprox 200 citizens, two churches and two cathedrals filled with well payed priests and whatnot doesn't seem to help. Even with the high school on the religious thingie I "might" be able to get it up to around 40%. Only had one pub if that makes any difference. Those religious people ingame just never want to be happy :/

I don't know to be precise, but I usualy have 1 church for every 50 residents, and I try to stick them right next to the garage servicing the housing for that area and the cathederal, when they ask for, I try to stick near the industrial sector, and mine seems to sit somewhere between 50 and 60%, usualy, so whether it is my positioning, or the amount I have I'm not sure.

First, I'm not sure how much you pay the priests/bishops matters so much. Their experience matters much more, so general skill-boosting abilities help along with everything else (Learning with Larry, Professor background, etc.).

Second, remember that the service quality of a cathedral is generally much higher than a church. In my winning mission 20 city, I had five cathedrals and one church (just to get the faction major demand covered):

That was good enough for religion happiness in the low 80s, IIRC.

I always try to place the churches near the residents, haven't really placed them near the garages though. Maybe I just need to fill up the town with more churches and such. Kinda want to place every church next to a garbage dump now though xD

EDIT: So I just build more and try to get them better experienced?

From the sound of it you have enough churches but their placement is off, garages help a lot.

You might want to invest in a tv station airing "learning with larry", along wtih the edict "papal visit". That'll help. Maybe have your presidente visit the cathedrals and churches.

I'll try that out when I get the chanse. Thanks :)
I play as an atheist every time. Never built a church in my life.

Ban contraceptives, build the Christ the Savior monument, ban gay marriage, do book burnings and perochial education in school. Or if you want to be even more realistic, don't build any schools at all.

Basically you play exactly the same as if you were a junta imposing martial law, except that people will still like you. Of course said people will all be dumb as bricks and you'll never move past a farm based economy, but hey that's just more realism for you.

Space provided, I usually just build cathedrals 'til they stop complaining. Build them next to well reachable garages so people don't need to walk far.

100 religious satisfaction is usually not that big an issue that way. Even without the edicts that pretty much kill every kind of standing with other factions (like book bbq, contraception ban and the like).

I also build a few cathedrals and then build the smaller churches around the garages and housing units.

I have an issue with the same thing. Always. Thanks for all the tips guys. Much appreciated.

Yes, thanks to the tips here I've managed to fix my foolish issue. Thanks everyone :) As ValleyJoe said, much appreciated.

I find proximity less is less important thatn quantity, when it comes to raising religion. Just start laying out churches, if u do have tons of money and drop a few caths make sure there is a garage next to it (Also make sure the priests' wages are high). You can invoke editcts such as the contraception ban and the one time papal visit. Lastly you can build the giant christ statue and the eternal flame (i think it has a setting for religion, but can't recall). Oh and movie theaters have a religion movie option that can help. Hope this helps

Build tons of churches, keep them fully or near fully staffed, (if you want) issue all the edicts like prohibition, and build a cathedral once you get to about 100-150 citizens.

I never issue all the edicts as they piss off other factions or are bad for my economy. I've noticed that I need a lot more churches than I think because all of them are always full. Keep on building them until they are not fully occupied 100% of the time.

Keep branding their faction leader as a heretic until you find some weakling who will play ball.
