However, the Modern Times Expansion adds tons of new buildings, a new campaign and a timeline, which basically adds a bunch of events as the ingame years go by. For example from 1952-1954 there are no food imports but corn increases in price by 200%. So you have events to adapt too. With the game on sale now I REALLY recommend getting Modern Times.
The rest of them it's up to you. They are by no means necessary though.
As for the rest, it's not required but some of the statues and decorations are nice.
Modern Times is very interesting, I recommend it
Propaganda is too very interesting, since you can now convert people to Lealist by just having some propaganda speakers, very useful and adds a touch of actual dictatorship, but its up to you
With the Apocalyse, you can have a bunker, said bunker, depending on the workmode, allows you to convert citizens to the faction you please, also is its good decoration, since it is supposed its in the middle of the cold war, when in any second the world could have blow up with thousands of nukes everywhere
The Junta is too a little useful, because you can have soldiers without need of generals thanks for the Bunker
Those are my personal likings
