1. Your hard drive is almost full so it is not running efficiently. Clean your drive as I said above. Remember you want to use Scan Disk tool, Disk Cleanup tool, and possibly Defrag tool. Never use Format Disk tool unless you really intend to erase the entire hard drive.
2. Your computer is more than four years old and your GPU is starting to fail maybe. This happens most often with the 3D gaming graphics cards that require a lot of power and generate a lot of heat. Less common for older cards from before 2006 but let's face it those ones won't play modern games.

3. If you are on a laptop, it is more than three years old and the battery is starting to fail. Nobody makes batteries for old model laptops anymore, trust me I've looked. If you're really lucky you might find one refurbished on Amazon.com though. Time to replace your computer.
4. Your computer has too much dust inside it, try cleaning it with a can of compressed air. Or you have too many other programs running at the same time so close some internet windows and/or other programs. Both of these issues can cause your processor to overheat and run more slowly and potentially can cause permanent damage to your machine if it gets too hot.
5. Your RAM is too small, I like to run at least 16GB of RAM on my desktop (8GB if you have a laptop). Buy more RAM chips, they are not too expensive these days.
6. Get on Youtube and look for a video to learn how to increase your Virtural Memory pagefile size, this should be at least 2GB if you play a lot of games or watch streaming video, but I like to keep mine at 4GB so it is never going to be a source of slow performance for me..
