This is very important if you are using the "Vancian" Spell System.
An important Note Concerning Casting: you have the option of the Vancian Spell system; spell slots, or the cooldown based system that was originally in the game.
As an aside; I Much prefer the Spell Slots.
You really Feel like a Wizard roasting hordes with fireball after fireball, or turning the whole battlefield into Attack of Opportunity granting Grease, or chain sleeping the entire hobgoblin raiding party, then ripping through them with sneak attacks! Fun.
While with the cooldowns, you are prevented from casting the spells you want when you want to, making it feel less like a D&D game, and more like something else.
Anyway, at 01:42 in this video I show how to use the spell slot system to view and prepare your spells.

I have quite the playlist going on Low Magic Age, along with Many other RPGs, both RogueLikes, and RogueLites. Take a look if you like.
OMG!
I completely missed that.
I owe you a ton of goodwill... thank you
That is exactly what I was after. I've played this game a ton of hours (over 70 I think off hand) but I still struggle with some stuff.
That is exactly what I was after. I kinda knew it would be somewhere, I just needed a more experienced player to help.
And in reply to your post above this... thanks for the video links and your comments.
After posting this I will check it out.
However, I did try the new "spell slot" option with my wizard but I was not a fan.
At this stage I think I prefer the cool down system, but mind you.. I am not a hardcore DnD gamer, so I am still trying to come to grips with the way the rules work.
I have played lots of computer rpg's in the past, Balburs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age Origins are a few that come to mind. I have been playing pc games when DOS was the OP system lol.
So I have a basic understanding of some DnD rules, but I am still a novice.
For instance I am trying to understand the way the skills system works in LMA and how for instance a skill like Open Lock requires a high intelligence but is a rogue skill and my rogue doesn't have a need for high intelligence and so on and so on...
Sorry i digress. Thanks again for the help.
I absolutely love this game (but I wish the devs would just bite the bullet and release it from Early Access.. before I die).
[/bconcerning]:
I go over the 3.5 rules as I play, as well as the many Low Magic Age House Rules that differ from them.
I actually like the House Rules, they cleanly present and provide options for people who may not know 3.5 like the back of their hand. They dropped BAB for example, and added an option for "Minions" a 4th edition concept of 1hp monsters that the player can kill to 'Feel Powerful' (not fond of those, but you can turn them off at the start).
In Low Magic Age, everyone dies at 0 hp, which is actually a 1ST EDITION THING, so no -10hp here!
And character gain AC as they Lvl, as opposed to it being purely based off dex and equipped loot; stuff like that. On the whole: good Stuff!
[/bconcerning]:
With Rogue, Int is an important stat for skill points, allowing the rogue to capitalize on their wide number of class skills.
For many rogues, Int is actually their second highest stat, As Rogues get 8 + Int mod for skills points in Low Magic Age.
Cross-class skills cost double, so having a smart rogue can mean that character can handle many of the skills for the party. Plus, this really predisposes rogues to a Wizard multiclass splash to get even more mileage out of that Decent Int.
Of course, that doesn't mean the rogue HAS to be smart, you can go really heavy on Dex and Con for survivability, or even go Str heavy rogue for more damage, this goes Very well for multi-classed fighter or barbarian rogues. Even just a little splash of those classes really gives a lot of staying power and damage to the lightly armored rogue.
I liked how you lost a character a couple of times... it made me feel less silly for the times I lost some characters in battle.
I was yelling at the screen to tell you to look at the exclamation marks for the quest locations though lol.
Just one small criticism, if I might. You talk very fast and sometimes it was hard to follow exactly what you were saying. I get it that you know your DnD rules, but for us less informed it would have been nice to have things explained a bit slower.
I need to rethink my rogue now. I seriously need to respec and give her more intelligence thanks to your comment.
I also appreciate your explanations about LMA and how it is mixing up the rules of different versions. That was interesting info.
