[Low Magic Studios]

The English translation has been released on Feb. 24, 2017. Some enthusiastic players want to help us to translate this game to other languages. So we maintain a translators list here.

Beware, It's a Very Formidable Task!

Please note that the translation of LMA is a very formidable task. There are 1MB+ text and lot of d&d specialized vocabulary needs to be consulted and exactly translated. So please think twice before making your decision.


No time limit for the translation work for now, since we all know it's a very difficult work and hard to calculate time.

All the translators and their urls (personal site, blog, etc.) will be listed on the in-game Credits and 10 steam keys of Low Magic Age per language as rewards.

How to Translate?

The English text are in game folder\text\en. The files are all plain text files (*.lua) that you can edit easily with your favorite text editor.

You can start your translation with text\en right away. But please make backups often since game updates may overwrite these files.


A slightly more troublesome but safer solution below (take Russian for example):
1. Copy text\en to text\ru.
2. Copy fonts\b_en.ttf,r_en.ttf to fonts\b_ru.ttf,r_ru.ttf.
3. Add ru=Russian into text\langs.txt.
4. Start game and choose Russian in game options and restart game.

Now text\ru is your work folder without the risk of being overwritten.


The translation process is very easy, just translate the text entries in the .lua files:

For example,

English text:

Russian text:

Resources for Translators:

The game rules of Low Magic Age are evolved from the Open Game Content/Open Game License (OGL) of DND 3.5/3R made by Wizards of the Coast, so an English verison + translation verison of D&D 3R SRD (System Reference Document) is a must have for translators.

And translators can also reference D&D 3R PHB (Player Handbook), DMG (Dungen Master's Guide), MM (Monster Manual). These books are very helpful for the translation job. And a D&D player background is also very very helpful ;)
