This game vs Windward - Is it worth it?
Hey, everyone. I don't see any reviews on Winds of Trade yet, but from the screenshots and the product description I'm having trouble really getting an idea on how this game is.

To me it seems a lot like this game is simply a lower quality Windward. In what aspects is it different? The same? What are this game's strengths and weaknesses? Thanks in advance, guys. I'm interested in this game just not sure if it's worth it yet considering I play Windward.

Hello there. The lead developer here. Windward is more focused on the RPG and adventure aspects of the age of sail. Winds Of Trade is more of an economic simulation, where the main focus is on trading. So if you get excited thinking about things like "stock market", "cash flow" or "interest rates" you will like Winds Of Trade. :P

Is this anything like Uncharted Waters?

Not really. Uncharted Waters is a multiplayer RPG, while Winds Of Trade is a singleplayer strategy game.

I'm supposing you have played WIndward then? There is certainly some aspect of trading and an economy in Windward, would you say that this game's economic sim is more in-depth and advanced than Windward's? It's really its strong point?

I meant the original Uncharted waters on NES/SNES, the single player version. Not the MMO.

"economy" - like pirates! (?), without the fighting?

How does it differ to East India Company?

Oops! Then I cannot answer your question, I'm not familiar with that one. Sorry!

Honestly, I haven't played it. I've only read reviews and watched videos of Windward. Based on that, yes, the main difference relies on WoT being a management game with a more advanced economic simulation, instead of focusing in the RPG side of things.

Will this game get multiplayer mode eventually? Multiplayer was what kept Windward alive and interesting.

seems more like a port royal game to me than anything... looks decent, I may buy it sooner or later.

Hello there. We don't have plans for multiplayer for the time being. It was designed from scratch as a singleplayer game for business simulation and strategy lovers.

¡Gracias por la rápida respuesta!
Lamentable de una parte pero por la otra me parece bien, ya que os podreis concentrar más en el 'single player'.
Mucha suerte y éxito con vuestro juego.

Thanks sop much for your replies. I'll look to get it sometime when I finish some more games in my library (I still haven't gotten to about half the games I bought during the holiday season lol)
