What does auto-complete do?

Completely new to this game concept but what exactly does the auto-complete strive to do? Complete tasks in an easier manner by offering suggestions?

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to reduce the amount of typing you need to do, assuming you use it right.

Auto-complete is totally optional and does basically 2 things:
1) You will see suggestions in the lower right corner of what you can type, showing you your available options. This may help someone new to the game.
2) If you press Ctrl+Space you can select one of those suggestions, which saves you a lot of typing.

As I said... it is completely optional, but if you use it to the highest extend you can complete the whole game by only using 6 or so keys on your keyboard.
