How does Ted work?

Ted just makes (larger) bus versions of components you make, so you don't have to make absolutely every single version of a component yourself.

Does Ted optimize?
Ted takes your component with the largest bus, and uses it to design a larger versions of it.
Ted's design will use X times more NANDs to make a design which has an X times larger bus.
As pointed out in the linked discussions, sometimes these are sloppy optimizations and sometimes these are impossible designs.

You don't have to interact with the game at all for Ted to make the designs... they will simply appear under the "Completed" folder after you make a base design.
