Is this years or months away?
The waiting is driving me crazy, even though I just found out about this game :)

Should be months. Working on VR controls, better UI for tools, additional assets to use in editors and Steam Workshop integration.

I remember asking this question somewhere between arma 2 and operation arrowhead lol

What year should the project be released in?

It´s been around well before Star Citizen, and has prolly made even less progress.
The only other game that´s been on my radar for such a long time is Ground Branch, and they too (!) are only tiptoeing their way towards a "maybe" 2034 full release.

I get passion projects, but Outerra imho missed it´s train when it was competing against VBS1 (yes one, not two!) :D

what is VBS? and does it support VR? because that is the whole reason I want to play this! :)

checked out this VBS, even VBS2 looks very bad graphically, plus it is doing a whole other thing. OWS looks great and is fully functional, they just have to finish the VR integration.
Shouldn't take that long :)

As probably many people know, Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BIS), makers of VBS, is a major player in the "serious games" field. What is probably less known is that the company was originally founded as Bohemia Interactive Australia by David Lagettie, an Australian who saw the potential in Operation Flashpoint game, and went to use it for military simulation and training software, which soon saw a widespread adoption.

^^ time flies!
Mr. Lagettie also starred in a band named Seventh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiCRslA_0Kg <-- that´s how Outerra looked back in the day. I´ve no idea how it´s now.

If it means the different between a buggy mess or a amazing VR experience. Take your time :)

I'm pretty sure you're in the wrong year.

You probably mean VBS 2, maybe even VBS 3, I remember Outerra being announced \ shown around 2013? when VBS 2 was in full swing. And TitanIM \ Outerra had it's shot pretty much when VBS (2 & 3) decline started and especially because of how problematic VBS was.

Still, there must be a reason TitanIM & Outerra aren't out on the headlines, despite them being first in the "whole world rendering engine" arms race.
