Does an airlock have to 'touch' space
I've had a few runs fail due to the AI bugging out (pretty standard alpha expectation) but one thing I'm not sure is by design or not is my crew getting stuck outside the ship.

The only thing I can think of is that each time this has happened ive reched a pont where i want to expand my ship to the left past my original airlock. It seem as soon as the last bit of hull is in place and the airlock is more than 1 tile from space in all directions, the airlock immediately stops functioning.

I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or this airlock behaviour is by design.

Unfortunately I cant figure out how to edit saves or anything so I can essentially go sandbox and tests these scenarios out. Does anyone have better information what requirement airlocks have?

not sure but i had a similar issue, the cause in my case was that i didnt leave any space to move ( watter cooler usw)

Pretty much same thing happen to me fire broke one of the floor tiles put a new one down they wont fix it and wont come back in the ship Game over again . And still can't trade or anything with other ships , was hoping some not all but some of the bugs would have been fixed looks like there even more now :steamsad:

no they dont, just place on hull and enjoy. I suggest having two of them

Every time I have blocked my airlock either internally by furniture or externally by hull, it has stopped working. So, in my experience at least, yes, one side needs to touch space, and another side needs to have clear access to the internal portion of the ship.

they just have to connect to a floor area, if theirs an airlock in the middle of the room its essentially an airlock in the roof of that room
