Fausts Alptraum

Fausts Alptraum

Trojan.Gen.2 ???
Hi,

I have a small problem and hope that someone can help me with it. I just downloaded "Fausts Alptraum" from steam and when it was done my antivirus program (Norton 360) automatically isolated a file from the game, because it is allegedly a trojan horse. When I checked the game cache integrity the file was reacquired and isolated again. According to Norton the file is called rgss101j.dll (Trojan.Gen.2). Does anyone have any ideas on that?

In case it is a false positive, how do I get my Norton to ignore it?

Thx

'Pretty' sure it's a false positive; Norton can tend to be a biiit overzealous at times. (which isn't a bad thing, considering.) rgss101j.dll is a .DLL file, which may contain code, data, resources, and possibly, 'possibly' a virus.

I have yet to run into DLL-related viral issues, but until I'm certain about it I'm probably gonna run a few tests and then delete; this game's pretty cool for what it is, but it isn't worth the risk of going through the headstrain of a viral attack.
Hi,

thanks a lot for your reply. I agree to everything you said.

But the problem has already been solved. I submitted the file to Norton on their "Report-a-Suspected-Erroneous-Detection-site" and upon further investigation they confirmed to me that it was indeed a "false-positive" and informed me that their virus definitions would be updated accordingly. And indeed the file is no longer detected as a possible threat.

Interesting. I'm happy your problem was resolved without major issue.
Also, thank you for helping further the understanding of both myself and whomever reads this.

May the Omnissiah protect your PC's machine-spirit, and may you have a good day.
