What does the outdoor decoration do?

I can nowhere find a description or any hint what they really do, or if they have any effect at all.
For just an decoration without any function they seem pretty expensive, tho.

The outdoor decorations are actually "pointless" in terms of gameplay - they're just in the game for fun and because some players really like decorating :)

They do count towards your total networth, but that's more of a funny side effect than anything

Since they count towards being an obsticle ... I rather not use them. If they had a function or would not have an obsticle area, then I would use them.

They can be useful for pumping up your net worth to meet certain milestones, or just for generally rocking some factory fashion. You definitely don't need the entire map covered by your factory floor (and your computer probably won't appreciate it if you do), so they're nice for cosmetics.

There are tons of games with cosmetic only items, so I think they are great. Don't need to drop too many as the asthetics already look amazing, but a few near the front door, docks, and corners of the building look quite nice.

I'd like to be able to lay outside sidewalks to speed up workers going from building to building, or just to make it look nicer.
