how do you pick up your sleeping bag
I've followed what it says shift and right or left click on the mouse and have an empty spot open but still won't pick it up, I've tried all the keys but still nothing. so question is this am I doing something wrong or am I missing something?

You need to have an empty hot key slot, Then select the hot key slot that is empty, now you hold shift down and Left Click on the object. Careful with storage items as anything in them will drop into a bag.

yea same problem here cant pick any thing back up

If you used a hammer to make it, you cannot pick it back up. Any object you place down by putting it in a hot bar slot and selecting that hot key slot to place the item down, can be picked up. If you are required to use a hammer to build the item after putting it down, you cannot pick it up.

*** If you did not put the item down, I am not sure you can pick it up ***

For normal base items (clock, sleeping bag, storage boxes .......
You need to have an empty hot key slot
Then select the EMPTY hot key slot
Now you hold Left shift (default Sprint key) down and with shift held down Left Click on the object to pickup (such as the sleeping bag).

For things built with a hammer, you need to use the hammer and right click on a built piece to tear it down.

Maybe report a bug on the in game bug report.

Ok, its not (always) the Shift key. Its whatever you have 'Sprint' bound to. If you have rebound your keys (like if you are left handed) then the menu is not contextual and just shows the default binding.
