Ok, so I'm gonna re-do the review as the old one was for the VERY first version of the game, and after revisiting it with an older RIP I used to own and videos I did, the game has wildly changed.

First, who's G.Rev?
Most of the Staff is formed by former Taito Employees, you know about G Darius? Ikaruga? Well, this devs were inside those releases doing some sort of collaboration on programming or another, and you can see them in the game credits.
They also did most iMobile Japanese ports ("java" phone ports).

So...

First let's begin with something important, how does this game plays?
It's the pioneer in some sort of combination that shouldn't work but it actually does, it's an STG (aka SHMUP) combined in a 1v1 FGC game.

This game is supposed to be a reboot (And probably intended as an International Release) of the 2009 game "Senko no Ronde DUO", which you can indeed test it out as there is an Arcade RIP of that version available for PC and is also available on the XBOX 360.

The three versions of this game does compare each other wildly too, but I'm gonna focus as much on this one on a perspective not-so deep comparing all three, probably just DUO.

DUO plays very similarly to this, only that this game buffed the ammount of bullets in-game, changed Seiyuus and Arts (https://twitter.com/apr30 This is the artists twitter), and they still manage to create a cool representation of the original, even if this feels... a bit more "messy" compared to DUO, there is at times SO MUCH going on, you lost track (Lev's Boss for example if used correctly), but at the same time, it makes the game so intense.

The game was also originally an arcade game, so you can use whatever gamepad AND a Arcade Stick, it plays fairly well with it.

Also, you might be asking, why is there Temjin? Well, since the very first DEV version of the original game, the Devs and publishers always liked to call this "2D VON", so Temjin is more or less a reference to always being called like that.

Now with the story mode, is pretty much the same as the DUO version but translated.
How well does it translated? Honestly, I really don't know a lot by now, I'm still revisiting the story mode and my Japanese isn't that ready to read all of the text I need to transform, tho, must say everything was comprehensible.
No, the story is not that complicated, is the typical Mecha/Evangelion kind of thing were you just need to pay a little bit of attention to know what is going on, because every arc of the character is actually happening at the same time with another one, so, some endings (Yes, the story mode is HUGE, there is quite some endings to watch in this mode, as it's pretty much a Visual Novel), might be connected with some OTHER endings, thus, creating a new verse.
Sometimes, I like to say (Especially with the first game) that the bad ending actually creates another verse, and since I still haven't readed Desires Roulette (Explanation of this later on), I really still need an answer, G.Rev.

Now with the DLC.
Karel and Lili weren't available right off the bat on DUO, and they never were, thus making this their second apparence since Rev.X (original game), since Luka Werfel (You might know why by reading the lore) was supposed to be Karel's replacement, and Fabian (Pretty much at this point, Lili's boyfriend) was a mixture of the original Fabian with some sort of Lili's moves in him.
I'm pretty sure they were planned at some point on DUO, as Sakurako and Ernula suffered this path tho, but, they were later added (Sanjo Shinobu and Ranatus being their "replacements").

Speaking of Desires Roulette...
It was supposed to be a completely new arc of the story following DUO's canon ending, but since G.Rev is a pretty small company, they couldn't afford it to make it, but I'm sure they already did had everything set, written and music wise, ready, so instead of throwing it into the abyss, they decided to make a book with OST with everything inside it, I must say, Thank you for doing this, not only gives the fans more material but also keeps the legacy a bit higher!
The book is like a visual novel, most of the characters and CG look like some sort of concept (Which looks kinda neat!) and some parts of the text make you listen some song while reading, making it, a book VN, always welcome!

Now, the NEW DLC, exclusive to Senko2!
First, Valken.
This game is coming from the "Assault Suit" game series (Available on a variety of consoles and PC!, tho, one was removed "Armored Hunter Gunhound"), it is a little but really cool Run N' Gun game where they applied the mech weight on the game, making it less "superdupercontraspeed" like, and more "passive".
The character is really cool and they added a lot of iconic songs and weapons to the arsenal of the character, also, it isn't that broken in my opinion, at least with the latest update they did, it's a pretty enjoyable Rounder (This is how we call mechs here), with lots of things to setup and traps to work with!

Second and probably more of your interest, Temjin.
(TA NA NA TIRIN TIRIN TA NANA NANANA TARANA TATATARAAAAA... I'm not sorry)
Coming from the "Cyber Troopers: Virtual On" series of games (You have chances of playing it on PC, but most likely you like the idea of playing it on consoles like XBOX 360, XBOX ONE or PS4).
If you played that game, YOU PLAYED THIS... on a way.
You see, it's really not a joke that both games feel similar in a way or another, a lot of "cancels" to make faster weapon reloads, for example.
This IS 2D VON, and with Temjin on it, if you know how to play with him on VON, you know how to play it on Senko 2.
The character includes "Golden (Angry as I like to call) Fei Yen" as the Boss (BOSS are like the super modes of characters, each has one), so you have some sort of 1.5 characters inside here, alongside the OST.

The game itself it's worth looking by the super 10/10 story mode with the music being also a 10/10, themes such as Cavaliers Note, Art of War or Invulnerable Satelite are just masterpieces.
Each character also has really a lot of distinction, they were made at first by Shuji Sogabe and Mizuki Takayama, lander to the design in addition to Sokabe the character to boarding Koichi Mugitani , Yamamoto seven formulas are participating.
So if you get any PERSONA vibe into the characters or Xeno series while looking at the mechs... You pretty much know why (Reminder: Senko 2 created characters based upon the original creations, you can look any difference by just looking at the arts inside the game).

Lastly and shortly...
Network sucks, you pretty much know that! Is a JAPANESE PC FGC GAME! But, you can use parsec and tada! Online with no issues!

So, do I recommend this game?
HELL YES.
It's my absolute favorite game to this date, and one you can always invite me to play, I created several discord and youtube channels (I will leave the Discord Channel there)

Senko no Ronde 2 is an obscure port of a Japanese arcade game released in 2010. The title was later ported to the Xbox 360 and the prequel was released in America as WarTech: Senko no Ronde. Gameplay wise, this is a mix of both a bullet hell shmup (shoot 'em up) and a fighting game. Think of it as a mix between Psychic Force and Virtual On. If you're a fan of anime, mecha, the shmup genre and the fighting game genre, you'll enjoy this game.

The characters are fully voiced in Japanese and each have a backstory. Design-wise, they're not too original, but their personalities are made apparent during the game. Each mecha (known as "Rounders") come equipped with a main weapon, a subweapon, a special ability (depending on the partner/variation you select), shield/force field, several dash attacks and the ability to transform into a B.O.S.S.! The B.O.S.S. mode is pretty cool and sounds exactly as the mode implies. You basically turn into a giant mechanized version of your regular Rounder for a limited period of time to unleash a barrage of bullets on the enemy. This is a great tactic, especially during the endgame, since it is a somewhat of a last-ditch comeback mechanic.

I haven't tried online mode yet, but from what I hear, it's quite laggy and not optimized well at all. I hope the developers / G.Rev fixes this.

In summary, if you are a fan of Japanese arcade games, you'll probably like this title.

Let's hope G.Rev releases more Steam titles like this one, in the near future!

Beside Acceleration of Suguri, this is another one of the rare gem from Japan. A mix between shoot-em-up and fighting game that I would call a 'Danmaku (Bullet Hell) Fighting Game'.

It is not too hard to pick up, but as the bots showed me, it is not easy to master the arts of dodging countless bullets and counterattacking at the same time either. No tutorials on specific character specials and moves, but the basic tutorial covers enough.

Speaking of characters, at first glance, they seemed generic and the mechas are not quite memorable. This game, however, comes with a detailed story mode which provides us glances into each characters personality and their lives with full professional voice acting. It also presents an excellent opportunity to familiarise yourself with all the mechs this game has to offer, while the story is no Pulitzer Award winner, it is okay in its own rights.

I have not tried multiplayer yet though, though the part of making this review in the first place is to get people to buy it and have someone to play with lol.

Music and sound, your mileage may vary here. Some may find it good, excellent and memorable; But some may find it generic. I am on the former stance though.

Rough around the edges, but lovable game in this age of AAA blockbuster releases one after another, an A grade game done with care and soul poured in it is a very lovely option right now.

The original Senko no Ronde on Xbox 360 was a game I played so much back then. It was a hard game to master, but even though I wasn't too good at it. I still had a bunch of fun with it. To see that the sequel got ported over to Steam is super fantastic. Think of Senko no Ronde as two games mixed as one. The combat style is a mix of Virtual On meets Zone of the Enders. You basically have to defend yourself against the incoming amounts of bullets and lasers at all times. You also have swords as attacks and that instantly reminded me of how Jehuty attacked in Zone of the Enders, but the camera is faced in a different perspective. The main portion of the combat is a game that's simple to learn but hard to master. Once you really get the combat mechanics down, you'll be blasting away like a pro. Plus, The anime inspired art work and colorful cast of anime trope characters really make the presentation stand out.

The second portion, BOSS mode is similar to Bullet Hell defense games like Ikaruga and R-Type. You have to either destroy the enemy or defend yourself as BOSS mode is powerful but the window of time to use it to your advantage is limited. So make good use of it. Though it is over powered sometimes, I believe BOSS mode makes the game fair and it really helps players comeback if they're struggling to gain an advantage.

Overall, Senko no Ronde 2 is a fun shooter that adds a lot of flair. If you were a fan of the Xbox 360 game, you'll feel right at home with this one.

Very expensive for what is is.
No player base, for multiplayer. And some serious bugs.
If you find it with more than 70% discount maybe it is worth.

Don't let numeral in the title fool you, this is more or less a slightly rebalanced version of SnR DUO with just a pinch of new content, so don't go in expecting an all new experience if you were lucky enough to get your hands on DUO. But since this is the first time the game is available in English on an international marketplace, a fully localized version of DUO is still great to have, even all these years later.

G.rev are often seen as carriers of the Taito torch, and while Senko no Ronde is probably their most aggressively experimental IP, it bears a bit of resemblance to Taito's Psychic Force, a short-lived series of fighting games featuring flying characters and projectile-heavy combat. Senko no Ronde is often explained as a kind of "versus shmup" but it could also be seen as an amped up version of Psychic Force, where flying characters flood the screen with projectiles while trying to close the distance and get inside for some melee damage. There's maybe a little bit of a resemblance to a 2D Virtual On or Boombots as well.

It's a more robust release than the last one we got stateside, Wartech on Xbox 360, with a lengthy story mode that is fully translated (with Japanese voices). I hear it's missing a couple features from earlier DUO releases, but nothing that stands out as conspicuously missing to me. The price is a little steep and don't expect a lot of online competition if you don't have dedicated friends to play with, but it's a good two player couch game with a friend, and it's great to finally get another G.rev gem on Steam.

A solid sequel to Wartech/Senko no Ronde. Great if you like shmups and fighting games,

A nice little gem from Japan, combining both Fighting and Shoot ‘Em Up, is a good experience that no fan of the Shoot ‘Em Up genera. Also giving you the chance to play the story of Senko no Ronde DUO

Fantastic game but the net code needs a lot of work. You can't narrow matches by region or connection quality or even see ping, and lag results in not only input delay but also severe slowdown throughout the match which makes it an over-all fairly unenjoyable experience. If I'd bought this for full price this would be a deal breaker but at 50% off I think the single player content makes it worth your money.

The controls are perfect, kinda hard to get used to, but they are awesome and satisfying when you get used to them.

The mechas are well-designed and every one has its own, awesome style

I can't play the Story mode because my PC is Mr. Potato though :(

Also I'm no one to say this, but it needs to explain the mechanics better to attract more audience (the netcode needs to be fixed too, but I'm sure they're working on that)
