Question to Joe about multishot

Why isn't multishot accounted for in dps calculations?
So if you have Dizzy Mini-Rockets, which has a multishot of 5, the dps calculation at the gun range will account for a single rocket. But the dps of the gun is 5 times that. So the dps reported is 5 times lower than what it really is.
What is the logic behind this?

Obviously this isn't intentional. Most likely forgotten.

most games have their shotguns at DMG x Projectile. Only a few actually state a higher DPS since some times not all projectiles hit the target due to spread.

While I appreciate you taking the time to respond, your explanation makes no sense. If I completely miss the target, none of the projectiles hit, and therefore the dps is zero :)
