As for the controller bit, you can't hold that against this game for that reasoning. I feel for you man, because growing pains suck, but that isn't even remotely the fault of the game. If it were something like the controller support being piss poor, or simply not implemented, I could see your point, but unless I've misunderstood you, that's just an unfair assessment on your part.
For your last point, I'm having the exact opposite problem. I much prefer the missions where you get whatever junk they give you, and you gotta make whatever you get work. When I have to select my loadout, I get paralyzed with having too many things to select from. After I finish most missions, I end up being forced to sell enough crap to be able to be under the inventory limit.
Anyway, that all said, you've put at least 17 hours into the game, which I'd say is well more than fair enough to be able to form your opinion of the game. In the end your opinion on the matter is as far as it matters in this matter. I just happened to see your review on the top of the community page while I was looking for something else, and had the inspiration to write all this unnecessary response out.
After 17 hours; I would not consider 6 starting jumps and 500% secret detection a constructive use of my time, because that's all I have to show for it...
It stopped being fun when I realised that I'm going nowhere, because I won't K/M anything but the occasional "casual" game...and I don't really play those. The controller takes many hours before my hands hurt and this game is waaay too hard with a controller(*subjective*), but I find it too easy with K/M.
That kind of imbalance I can't find in other FPS games, controller is "always" harder than K/M...but the distance between them is not even a fraction of this game.
More controller option might help, but I've already uninstalled it, so I don't really care.
Being able to jump that many times is amazing, this game has me trying to get to the ceiling more than trying to survive it, tho.
Using weapons for movement is a skill I do recommend cultivating, since it can let you FLY across the room very quickly and you can still use your jumps for more fine maneuvering.
I don't really have any salient tips for how to do that effectively with a controller though, I regret to say - all my experience with this game is with M+KB.
Then maybe don't invest all your points in secret detection and jumps??? At least half of the secrets in a level is unnecessary because of how many they are, and the stat boosts they give aren't that important. just get movement speed, max health, energy recharge, or any other armory upgrade combo that will make you less ♥♥♥♥ at the game. Because not gonna lie... you're just really ♥♥♥♥ at the game, and it's probably because all you care about is making a wacky loadout and getting every secret.
Why exactly did you think you would like this game?
...wanna try again?
Part of what I grade is how much help a difficult game can have useful advice in the discussions or on google. Being a ♥♥♥♥ to angry ranters doesn't help their problem and it certainly doesn't make me think gamers are intelligent or nice.
If you were angry and stuck; I would help...not misrepresent your position to make it easier to attack.
