Tried the game on mint 17 but it does not seem to work. The unity logo runs but then the game seems to be stuck on a grey screen with music in the background. Might be because of outdated drivers.

yeah fullscreen can be a bit wired with linux, if you want to try launching it via termianl with -screen-fullscreen 0 or -show-screen-selector

I can confirm the grey screen with music in the background, having the same issue. On fully updated Arch Linux. Launching via terminal with -screen-fullscreen 0 or -show-screen-selector and running in Window mode seems to solve the problem.

This is a known issue with a recent (but not the latest) version of Unity. After launching in windowed mode you should be able to immediately switch to fullscreen and play without issue.

@whiskers434: If/when you upgrade to the latest version of Unity this issue should disappear, I believe.

It was included in 2017.1.0p4[unity3d.com]. It isn't in the log, but as per this discussion[forum.unity.com] it was added at the last minute due to being too late for the previous release.

thanks, we are currently on 2017.1.0p4, thanks for that thread, it looks to still be an active issue will keep an eye on it
A lot of Unity games have had this fullscreen issue on Linux lately, I've seen it mentioned like book knowledge on gamingonlinux.com.

I can confirm text issues as well with the Linux build. Some text boxes just don't show up (I haven't tried another OSes), as shown here:

This is in the tutorial, but probably happens in other game modes. Some text boxes do show up, until they all disappear for good. It seems the issue goes away when running the game in Very low, but it's a bit frustrating considering that my computer could handle Ultra settings at >30 fps.

Hi, have you tried custom graphics settings and messing with the different sliders it might be that one option is triggering this issue, I did get one report that it might be the graphics option setting it to more than medium cuased the issue, but couldn't replicate it on my vm. If you want to try lowering the graphics slider to medium and the rest to ultra see if that works
Hey. Seems to work with graphics set to Medium and everything else to Ultra indeed, thanks for the tip. However, the graphics slider is really what has the most impact on the overall visual quality so I'm looking forward to some fix (not sure if the issue is with the game or the Linux drivers so I'm not pointing at anyone!) to fully enjoy the graphics.

Speaking of which, lowering the settings also lowers the resolution of the in-game icons. Dramatically. Some of them are barely readable afterwards, which makes them difficult to use when they have no tooltip (like the icons on the right of the small window that shows up when you click on a ship flying around). Is is working as intended? I'm surprised that the resolution of such small icons would have much impact on the GPU performance.
