Stutter/Lag (Please add resolution options!)
So first thing, I'm lovng this game. The premise, atmosphere, graphics, etc.

However, one thing that is awful, is the lag/stutter.

Moving around, the character seems kind of stuttery (this might even be a aesthetic choice), but whenever the camera pans, its awful. It's jerky, laggy, and makes playing the game quite unpleasant.

I'm playing on my 4k tv, and was wondering if it's performance related. I changed my desktop resolution to 1080p, and it seemed immensely better.

Not sure why, seeing as I have a 4790k, 980ti, 16gb ram, but a change resolution option would greatly be appreciated!

Ah thank you so much for the compliments!

- Some others have mentioned the stutter, we will investigate.

- Believe it or not we used to have a resolutions option before, but we never able to get it to work as intended. The best compromise we found was for the game to scale to your native resolution automatically.
We don't have 4k screens to test the game on probably why it works better at 1080p since that's where we tested on! We will try to make it work.

Yeah the stuttering is still as much of an issue as it was from the demo build, it seems.
I can't pick this up till that's fixed, the framerate drops to sub 55 everytime the screen scrolls, and it just looks terrible.
Was hyped for the release, hoping that stuttering bug would be patched, but here we are :/
I have an Nvidia GPU, but even setting it to run on my laptop with an intel card causes the same issues. So I think you can rule that out as an issue.

I'm also experiencing stuttering whenever the screen scrolls on a 2K monitor

I get a definite stutter when loading into a new map and occasionally when text/chat boxes pop up or go away.. The game has a kinda slightly weird 'blur' to the scrolling that looks unnatural a bit but I also noticed it didn't set itself to ignore windows scaling, so hopefully adjusting that will fix it!

I like the demo a lot, but my finances are limited and I can't really justify buying a game that won't run on my system. The stutter is so bad on my system, I can't hit the action commands at all. :<

We are very sorry, it is very frustrating for us too.
But since we don't have access to screens with higher resolutions/higher refresh rates, we can't test and identify the problem for now.

If we resolve the issue we will announce it.

For now, manually changing the screen resolution to 1080p on your computer settings seems to solve most of the problems. Try playing the demo with that resolution and see if it works.

I'll give that a shot. It sure would be nice to get to play this game. I've been wanting one like it for years.

EDIT: It worked! Your response went a long way towards gaining my trust. I decided to buy your game. Thank you!

No problem, and thank you!
We haven't given up yet with the resolution and stutter problems, it might just take a while.

It seems we were able to fix the stutter problem!
We have updated the full game and the demo with the stutter fix so you can check and test for yourselves. Let us know if it worked.

Bear in mind the resolution cannot be above 1080p or the engine starts to present problems.
We haven't been able to fix that one yet.

@papercastlegames -- thanks for including native resolution scaling!

i just started up the title after only playing it the day of purchase, i have been waiting to play until the resolutions offered would accomodate my LG 29uc88 display...

it's going to be a fine night tonight with underhero

This thread appeared recently and it may have a temporary solution to this problem, it seems to be happening to only some Nvidia users: https://steamcommunity.com/app/573320/discussions/0/1648791520840726358/

Let us know if that works at all, we are still hoping that the jump to the new version of Unity and the fixes we have made for the next update correct this problem for good.
