Leaving the Valley?

Okay... I have the blue light after finding the 18 shards (there were two I would never have found... the one that requires serious jumping to roof and one of the chests off the path I never ran into). The big temple still has one of four containers still closed (which I assume relates to the skull icon), a door still closed to left of "alter", and my skull symbol is still not active . Is there something else to do in the valley or is time to go?
BTW... I really loved this game!

Simple answer: time to go. There may be some more background story pictures that you haven't found but as far as progress is concerned you did everything in the valley.

thanks! I have a save point before leaving but still did not want to miss anything significant.

You won't return to the valley, but you will return to the cathedral so that you can complete the puzzle there. When you got the blue vial, you'll have experienced most if not all what the valley has to offer, no reason to stay longer.
