Before I read the spoilers, is this info available ingame or do I need to know some viking lore for this? I've been waiting a few game days for something to come up but it starts to look like this is just something one needs to know, somehow, as I don't seem to be getting any hints from the game itself.

If you were to Google "Norse cat goddess", you would have found this info as the most likely educated guess. It is a little annoying that you would not have been able to do this totally offline without knowledge of mythology, but it is the 21st century so whatever.

I'm kinda disappointed there is no way of getting the answer in the game. Are there other things I must Google in order to complete the game?

I would be in favor of a Wisdom skill check option, in addition to just being able to look it up like you can now. It's an unusual choice.

Or, give some hints in-game like some dialogues between Moira and Kira about the gods in the early game (so it's not too obvious) or find some books or just some "Viking lore" stuff available in the menu like you have in "Expedition : ..." games.

Nobody should have to google around to get the answer to a game riddle, especially since googling around will usually lead to a thread like this that tells you nothing about who is Njord, what's the difference between the Asirs and the Vanirs and why a Vanir goddess is living in Asgard rather than among her own people (no need to answer this for me, i'm not totally ignorant about Norse mythology).

Heck, even put some links to Wikipedia pages in some menu, there's links to Facebook and every useless social crap right on the start screen!
