Daang thank you this is definitely where I went wrong. My erick survived the attack but I was so shocked by it being Yaghoub!
I felt like it had something to do with those options and I started off merciful but somehow tricked myself into thinking he wouldn't approve of that and beef'd it all up.

Yaghoub never confessed to being Hagbard's man in my playthrough, so I don't know if I did something wrong, or Eirik will always get assassinated in the epilogue if I let Yaghoub live in game.
There was someone who said they got Yaghoub to confess, I don't know how but I think it can be done! So crazy! Dang that post-game dialogue. Reminds me of Knut's I wonder if theres a way to rehabilitate him
