Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Statistiche:
Amnesia .vs. Penumbra
Since both Games have come out and I have played both of them I decided to write a little review on them. So to start off both are scary and both are puzzle games. However me and my friends find it hard to compare, because one game is more modern and logical, the other is more..wel old timey and dark. So with these lets break them down.

Amnesia-The dark descent:
Gameplay- 9.75: Gameplay seems smooth and clean very easy to get down and master. Only problem is that when running u dont stop when running into things which looses stamina.
Story-10: Story is copelling and interesting. Will keep you geussing. It also conatains 3 diffrent endings each one will leave u satisfied...maybe.
Puzzles-7.5: Puzzles are trickey and take some REAL THINKING. With determination and careful examination you'll get it.
Scares-?: Sacres are very thought out and planned acordingly. Not too many to scare the player off not to little.

Penumbra Black Plague/Requiem
Gameplay-8: gameplay is smooth for most part some too many shortcut buttons may interfere.
Stroy-10: Compelling and interesting much like that amnesia where you will enjoy everbit of it.
Puzzles-8: Puzzles are logical and thought out. Uses surrondings to the maxinum.
Scares-?: More the fear of the unkown then monsters. There are monsters but some supernatural force keeps you on edge by messing with your vision.

So whats your verdict? Amnesia or Penumbra?

In my opinion Amnesia isin't scary unless your in the certian setting. Like mabye in the sewers or while in the basement but the monsters keep you on your toes. Penumbra Immitiatley throws scares at you as soon as you start playing and has a errie setting. The monsters are less scary looking but are more scary when a ''popup'' happens, which is usually. Very good disscusion and creative to compare these two amazing horror games.
Amnesia is less scary but more intense... I like Amnesia more... they didn't focus on jumpscares and this stuff and your fear comes from your mind and not frome the game itself (most of the time nothing happens, but you think there is a Kaernk in every water...)
Kaernk is the right word for the water monster then? What I ment by amnesia is only scary in a certian setting is exactly for that monster. When all of a sudden you go into one part of the mansion and its flooded you think. ''Ok well this is weird'' then they surprise you with a chase scene with the Kaernk. It's still very scary in moments like that and the random monsters appearing when you have to hide also, the one that hears you instead of seeing you. But other than that I don't find fear in the game and trust me, I get scared easially for the smallest things. But mindgames on the player make it harder and more fun for the player and make then not want to move on even though they want to.
