Be Aware! Latest update might be a Virus!

Just had a file flagged (server.so) whilst downloading an update to Lost Coast - which also happens to be several years old and the update came as a huge surprise. Even more so when Avira flagged it as HEUR/ELF.Malformed virus.

I have not started the download for Amnesia, but thought to have a look in the forums first...

Just sayin' like.

its a patch that adds controller support and others
official update by fricitonal games it seems

That is dated June 2013. 7 months have passed since then! Most if not all of the update stuff is listed on your gamepage in Steam. This one is not there.

And even then... do you seriously believe steam would download viruses on purpose?

Of course I have heard of false positives hence the use of the words "might be".
I don't know why we should take it all for gospel just 'cause its on Steam when there is no word anywhere from anyone on the updates - what they are or why now. The game is frikkin' old dude. Why a massive update with no comments of any kind.

...ok. Who says it is from them? That is my point. An official update would (normally) be followed up by some kind of release stating what the update is all about. Please read the OP again. I use the word "might" and so the decision to update or not is down to you.

Let's not drag this out any more and end the debate here and let us just agree to disagree or whatever.

I haven't had any virus-problems in my files, neither Lost Coast nor Amnesia.

If you really want to find out if its a virus
Someone Will have to test if controllers are enabled now

I use XPadder for controller support. I had no idea Amnesia supported controllers :D
