Sanity meter
I am having a really hard time getting into this game becuse of the sanity meter.... it seems so gamey. I just beat outlast which was great and I heard this game was even better but the sanity meter just kills me.

Its hard to really get into the game with a meter telling me how freaked out the character in the game is...

Am I the only one with this problem?

Finally someone who hate it :D
If you check the Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs forum you'll see thousands people pissed for the lack of it!

Wow so I am in the minority then? I really love the setting and the atmosphere but I feel like its a constant reminder that "This is only a game." I guess I will keep trying and maybe it will just grow on me?

I dislike it since I've played the game countless times and just like to play around with the levels and monsters. If you really dislike it you could probably change the settings for it in the game.cfg file in the config directory.

There are pretty much anything you can edit in there ;) Sanity, oil and all the other stuffs around. And it's all pretty clear, maybe someday i'll give it a try to mess a bit :D

Just give it time, it will grow onto you :D
I think it adds to experience, because in Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, I wasn't scared at all. It's that sense that you're scared not only of the monster, but of being in the dark too long because something might happen (you might see a monster or you might lose your sanity). Without it, it gets quite dull

This game is one of the first games I played and I am forever in love with it. If you were in that experience your sanity meter would fall too and you would have to crawl in a corner and pray. That is why the experience is so real for me. I have been scared but in this game the horror is unreal and you are in the middle of it. If you have trouble try and use your lantern more and stay in the light. But if you hear a growl, hide immediately.

It adds the experience the first couple times you play it, but if you are trying to test out a model in a particular section where your sanity drops easily, it's a pain to deal with(this is someone who has no map making skills).

Actually, I can't agree with you: I never experienced anything with lowlevel sanity if I didn't want to or it wasn't scripted...

The spot that annoys me the most is in the North Pison block. First you have the wind that will drop your sanity a little, and then you have the Brute that will drop your sanity even more. Sure I can wait for it to go back to normal after the wind section, but most times I need to breeze through that area.

Sanity never really bothered me, I only freaked out like twice.
