can't get into the laboratory

I have all 6 orb pieces. I looked up a walkthrough saying you can get in after you've been captured after getting all 6 pieces and the lab opens up but I have not been captured. am I missing something?

Go to Chancel. Pass stairs. Open main door and die to the monsters. After you wake up in dungeon. Skip the chapters, the lab will open.
