They werent kidding when they said less tinderboxes [Hard Mode]

Just lost all my progress because I couldnt find a 4th tinderbox after searching for about 20 mins and then I died. I think in an hour of play I found a total of 7 tinderboxes, 4 of which I used in areas I needed to stay in for a while to complete an objective.

I found a lot more oil than tinderboxes so in retrospect I should have just used the lantern all the time and not ever use a tinderbox. It seems a little unbalanced to me, oil should be more rare especially when it costs tinderboxes to save.

Yeah. It's weird because there is so much oil in hard mode, but hardly any tinderboxes. I thought they would both be scarce.

You might not be searching hard enough then, I just got to the prison area, already saved 3 times, 1 in the room with the water monsters, other in the Back hall, and another at the start of Prison and I have 3 tinderboxes already. But I agree, oil is really abundant in hard mode.

One thing I noticed thou, after watching a video from fellow Yazite here in the Storage room, he finds a tinderbox in the room with the 2 rods, but there was no tinderbox for me there. Maybe there is some sort of randomness to it, either that or they switched the tinderboxes around in the patch as well, cuz I believe the vids are from the first Hard Mode patch, wich ended up being taken down due to bugs.

Yeah I’ve just noticed that too. It may be a difference between platforms. Not sure.

I played up until the refinery without saving, and then while walking around with my lantern out, my dude died from insanity. I thought the light from the lantern prevented sanity loss? I had 8 tinderboxes but I was planning to save for the first time before the water section.

-Further ahead, in the corridor, a tinderbox can be found in a closet to the left of Daniel.
-The next tinderbox can be found in a tiny, dark room with a knights armor in it, to your right just before you enter the Old Archives
Old Archives 2
-In the first room to your right after entering the Old Archives, two tinderboxes can be found.
Archives 1
-In the "Catalogues" room to your immediate left, a tinderbox can be found in a desk.
Refinery 2
- second room on left after seeing grunt
-room with crank/trapdoor past hole in wall
-ISN'T one in next room(video show one here)

The lantern very slowly recharged your sanity. If you witness an event which hits your sanity, while on low sanity, the lantern can’t really save you.

Same thing happened to me, i died in the Refinery because i picked up that damn Laudanum bottle and one door opened and the other closed and ruined my sanity, then the Shadow growled and i died XDD worst death ever lol

I found 19 so I could save 4 times and that's enough when you are experienced with this game. But I don't think there was too much oil. I almost used it completely. ^^

Im in the prison now, i have 2 tinderboxes and no oil left. sooo much fun xD

Hahaha xD Well, I hope you will make it. ^^

Prison was surprisingly easy for me but do you know what? I was so stupid to die in the morgue. Because of the automatic camera movement after the injection, I accidently opened the door where the Servant Brute came in - forcing me to start from the storage again.

I did just fine to the part where i'm looking for the glass container for the acid, and managed to find some tinderboxes and oil, but then something happened and the game froze! Gonna have to start from the elevator again. >_>

Woo that's some bad luck! :O that's even worse than what happened to me, I feel you bro! xD

I died twice in the prison, for me it's the most difficult part with the hard mode
The sewers although, not so difficult but extremely stressful ^^
