Tank health (game mechanichs question)
Ok, just trying to understand this...

Tanks have no HP. If a tank isnt dead, its at full armour. When a anti tank weapon makes contact with a vehicle, accuracy and range decide if it hits. Assuming it does hit, 3 things can happen: the tanks armor could rebuff the shot, the tank might be instantly destroyed, or it could suffer a "critical hit" (which in this game is a blessing) and lose its main gun or transmission etc.

Some units have grenades. Those units can destroy open top vehicle at close range.

Stress is something else altogether. Everything cuases stress; hits, misses, small arms fire, enemy soilders pointing thier fingers and yelling bang. When a vehicle gets stressed, its stops functioning and panics, but its not damaged. If the stress fades, then you have a shiny new tank every bit as healthy as the ones you just called in.

... that about right?

That's pretty much it, yeah.
I believe a vehicle automatically backs away from a threat at only 50% stress, by the way. It's still controllable until it hits 100%, though.

And many AT infantry units have weapons other than grenades, such as bazookas. These will happily destroy closed vehicles as well as open topped ones. Never send a tank unescorted into a town or forest.

Afaik all infantry units have grenades against open topped vehicles but only specific units have the AT grenades that are listed in their profile and those can destroy even bigger tanks.

Vehicles do seem to have a hidden HP bar that's affected by some kinds of HE damage. The interaction is not presently well understood, but it's why tanks can infrequently be killed by large bombs and the like.

It's been officially confirmed that vehicles do NOT have any sort of "health bar" or any other sort of health that depletes. What you're seeing is just a low random chance and an unlucky tank.

there are also 3 kinds of grenades. The 22 HE grenade. AT grenades. And "normal" grenades that every infantry unit has, which has 50m range ,causes only stress and is only used against vehicles, this way can a infantry unit without AT make a vehicle surrender.

Nah if the HE value is higth enougth there is a chance that it will destroy an armored vehicle. (Ex : IG 18 can destroy a Greyhound)

Sure, there is health bar for vehicle. Just take a look in modding tool LOL. And if you dont believe, try to do some test with ur friends: use MG or HE cannon shot at a apc, and watch it's color change.

This is somthing I MISS about Red Dragon. Stats were all there to see and understand. It's seems everything is vague on purpose leaving us to trial and error until they patch and all that work goes out the window.

Well, planes definitely seem to have hidden HP. They're never killed instantly by AA.
Green Raven Jun 16, 2017 @ 12:15pm
Planes have Agility. Though if it gets under fire, it'll scarper. Thats what fighters are for
MrUnimport Jun 16, 2017 @ 12:21pm
Right, but it seems like sustained fire from any source will kill a plane eventually, but never with the first burst.
