Italy would be my choice too, though it's hard to see that Italian divisions would be included in game since Italy capitulated on day 1 of the mainland invasion.
Desert campaign ?
Fall of France ?
Far East (Burma/Singapore/Pacific Islands) ?
and not forgetting the vast possibilities of the Eastern Front ?
I believe you still had a couple of italian divisions fighting for the germans after the capitulation of the italian governement . 1 thing i know for sure is that you had a lot of german divisions with Italian volunteers in them. The biggest problem with an italian theatre for this game is that alot of the italian landscape consists of hilly terrain. so that means that the line of sight mechanic in this game really needs to be updated to include elevation in the terrain.
An eastern front steel division requires it,s own entire game. this because the fighting at the eastern front happened in an entirely different way and scale.
fall of france is also a great idea. it would be fun fighting with the germans against a for the most part technologically superior allied force in the 1940,s.
Yes indeed a few scattered units continued to fight on despite the surrender order and i totally agree the topographical terrain would be a challenge to overcome especially the LOS tool.
Not so sure about the vastness and scale of the Eastern front conflict is such a big problem.
The force sizes currently in use in SD are barely skirmish level sized compared to the real battles.
A bigger challenge would be how to integrate the organisation of the Russian units involved.
Russia relied heavily on brigades not divisions in area's such as Armour/artillery etc but this is not a major problem.
On the plus side, many of the units used in game on the Axix side are already modelled so only a few skins and armoured vehicles would be needed thus lessening the developer workload.
Not just Matilda's but M3 Lee medium tanks, Sherman 111's, Stuart tank variants not to mention the Priest 105 SPG and a variety of Armoured Cars.
On Allied side there is a rich diversity of Infantry types including Chindits, African, Indian, Chinese and even units of Indiginous Karen, Akha, H'mong, Loi, Paluang Hilltribesmen who made excellent recon scouts apparently.
The Japanese could also theoretically field Korean/Burmese and possibly Thai troops although they would be very similarly equipped to the Japanese troops.
BD'41 cooool
You think I'm joking, Supply trucks could be Tuk tuks/Rickshaws with spare puncture repair kits. If you dont get all het up by your units screaming BANZAI!!! then you're not capable of emotion.
Just imagine the down hill speed alone will crush the British Spirit! No wonder Percival surrendered. Go go BMX Banzias!!!
oh go on!
