Skirmish Maps
Hello All

I must say Love the game so far. I play Skirmish for the most part.

The only draw back so far being.

1 Pegasus Bridge Map there is no bridge

2 Odon River map there is no river.

All the maps provided feel very much the same something a little different would be nice.

1 The idea of the map is that the historical battle is over and the battle fought on that map is basicly the aftermath.

2 There is one bridge and if i call correctly inf can just swim over the river (i could be wrong here)

There are multiple threads asking for some diffrent maps, so you are not alone (i personaly would love an more urban oriented map)
The maps are all 100% accurate to how it looked in 1944, but with that great detailing comes an price of having maps that all feel the same (since Normandy is basicly all small towns and forests)

The 1v1 maps are partial sections of the 4v4 maps, the bridge probably have been cut from the shorter version for balance reasons

Odon River has a river on it in 2v2-4v4 but not in 1v1 (because of balance). You see the river flowing on the left or right side in the greyed area in 1v1.

Well, the maps are all similar because the terrain all around Normandy was very similar and it is a game about Normandy.

However, with that said, I would welcome some maps with a little bit more variety. And I think that there might be some areas of Normandy that were a little different, for instance the back areas of Utah, the town of Cain might take up a bit more space on a map creating an urban setting over a larger area of the map. I don't think that Brest would be considered part of the Normanday operation, probably more of Operation Cobra, but I would be willing to stretch it for the maps sake.

The maps in RD where a river crossed left-right were typically pretty bad because they promoted stalemates.

I can see what you mean, but a river across a map that would only allow a force to control 50% of themap would make sure one or the other would make the crossing to control 50+%. It is a tactical fact that a river crossing under fire is a bear of a job and WW2 in France and subsequently in Holland and Germany featured plenty of this particular field problem.

In RD, battles would sometimes bog down with the river maps, but in many other instances I have seen the enemy or friendlies force a crossing or even use amphibious vehicles to create a bridgehead. RD does not have the blue/red zone of control thing, so it would most probably be different.
