What does "Unit Scaling" do in the options?

It makes units smaller or larger when you zoom all the way in. So, with unit scaling disabled, tanks take up a realistic portion of the road for example. By default, they are significantly larger.

I turned it off, since you still have the icons and such just fine for zoomed out strategic work, and it makes it easier to tell where your units "really" are when you zoom in far.

So disabling unit scaling will scale them to a more realistic size, while keeping it on normal makes them unrealistically larger right?

If that's so, I'll turn it off, thanks for the info.
