Can you call in early phase units in later phases?

Hi,

really dumb question but I couldn't actually find an answer anywhere.
I am currently sitting in the deck builder (my favorite part of the wargame series) and trying to make my first deck. I noticed that there are often duplicates of units for different phases.

Before I saw that, I assumed the phases would only work one way, i.e. you can't buy B units in A, but you can buy A units in B. However, that would make duplicate cards for later phases obsolete.

So my second thought was, maybe phases work both ways, i.e. you cannot buy A units once you reach B. However, that seems like a weird limitation and I can't think of a reason for a design choice like that.

So which one is it? One way or both ways? I don't want to start a skirmish map and sit around waiting for the second phase just for confirmation...

You can buy earlier phase units in later phases. The reason there are seemingly duplicate cards is that later ones allow you to call in more units i.e. 4 units in one card in phase A, 6 units in the same card in phase B. And/or they have more veterancy i.e no starts in phase A, one star in phase B

Hmm, you are right, that makes sense. I just happened to look at the wrong thing at the wrong time it seems.
The Aufklärer unit for the Panzergrenadiers has exactly the same veterancy and unit count in phase A and B, but cost 5 points less. The PZ.Schreck cards have the same cost, but different amounts. In my brain that somehow melded into "no differences anywhere"
